Dhaka Bureau: The National Board of Revenue (NBR) has issued a notification on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan with tax exemptions on rice, edible oil, sugar, and dates. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina ordered to reduce the duty on edible oil, sugar, dates and rice in the cabinet meeting on January 29. At that time, he said that the supply of these products should not be reduced during Ramadan.
After the meeting on that day, Cabinet Secretary Mahbub Hossain told reporters that the Prime Minister has given special importance to controlling the price of goods after the election and asked to work on it based on the coordination of the concerned ministers. In the meeting, he learned the latest situation from the ministers, was told what work they had done, and shared their experiences. Then the Prime Minister gave specific instructions.
In that meeting, he directed the NBR to reduce the duty rates on the four products that are required during Ramadan, especially dates, edible oil, sugar, and rice.
