Sports Desk: The World Cup is knocking at the door. The fever of excitement is growing among football fans all over the world! The Greatest Show on Earth is going to start in the smallest country in the Middle East on Sunday (November 20). Among them, the government of Qatar and FIFA, the governing body of world football, have banned the sale of beer in eight venues of the World Cup.

This information was found in the report of the British media BBC.

Just two days before the start of the World Cup, the host country Qatar and FIFA have reversed their earlier decision. On Friday, they announced a ban on selling beer around eight World Cup stadiums.

According to FIFA, this decision was taken after “discussions” with the host country of the World Cup, Qatar. Because it is an Islamic system. Where there are already strict restrictions on alcohol consumption.

However, FIFA did not give any reason for taking this sudden decision. A news release from the organization stated that alcohol will only be available in the fan zone. Beer vending points will be removed from around the stadium during the Qatar World Cup.

Dozens of beer stalls have already been set up around the stadiums for the opening match between Qatar and Ecuador on Sunday. Organizers expect more than a million people to travel to Qatar during the 29-day tournament.

On the other hand, FIFA has a long-term contract with AB InBev-owned Budweiser.

The notification also said that the organizers of the tournament are appreciating AB InBev for understanding the matter and assisting them during the World Cup in Qatar. Of course, there will be plenty of beer available in the stadium’s VIP suites. Which will be sold by FIFA, the governing body of football.

Beer will also be available at the FIFA Fan Zone in Doha, some private fan zones and 35 hotels and restaurants. In Qatar, the sale of alcohol is prohibited in all restaurants that are not associated with luxury international hotels or resorts.

Meanwhile, the Football Supporters’ Association (FSA) has criticized the timing of the decision to ban the sale of beer. An FSA spokesman said not everyone who came to watch the game drank beer. It was discontinued at such a time which is sad.

Even in 1986, drugs were banned in the venue. It was also banned in the 2014 World Cup. In the past, global football tournament organizers have also been successful in this regard. BSS
