US police say seven people have been found dead after shootings at two homes in Illinois, and the search for the suspected gunman is ongoing. Police said they are looking for 23-year-old Romeo Nance in connection with the attack in Joliet.
Joliet Police Chief Bill Evans said the suspect knew the victims, who were found Monday afternoon (US local time) in two homes across the street.
He is believed to be driving a red Toyota Camry, investigators said. Investigators also urged anyone with information about the attack, which happened 40 miles (64 kilometers) southwest of Chicago, to come forward.
The Joliet Police Department said in a statement, “The investigation is ongoing, and as part of that, we are working with our local law enforcement partners.”
Joliet Police Chief Bill Evans said at a news briefing that police were notified shortly after 12:00 p.m. local time Monday that several people had been shot. Police officers later arrived at the scene on West Acre Road and found seven bodies.
The deceased are believed to be members of the same family. The police said the motive for the attack was not immediately clear.
