Three years ago, on November 15, people took to the streets to protest against the increase in oil prices. For days, protesters looted banks, gas stations, and attacked police stations.

Authorities quelled the protests by shutting down the Internet for a week. According to Amnesty International, at least 304 people died. The protests spread to more than a hundred cities.

The Norway-based Iran Human Rights Group said more than 326 protesters have died in the current protests against the killing of Mahsa Amini.
