Reuters reported this information in a report on Monday (December 18).
According to the report, the Mexican authorities said that the attack took place on Sunday in the province of Guanajuato in central Mexico. At that time, members of armed groups opened fire on those attending a traditional Mexican party called a posada.
The attorney general’s office of Guanajuato province said in a post on social media X that 12 people were killed in the attack. No further details of the incident were disclosed in the post.
The province of Guanajuato is known for its automotive and aeronautics industries. But it has become one of Mexico’s most violent provinces in recent years due to drug-trafficking conflicts.
