Sports Desk: Bangladesh defeated New Zealand by 150 runs in the Sylhet Test. Bangladesh needed three wickets to win on the last day. In the first session, Naeem and Taijul secured the victory for Bangladesh by taking these three wickets. Taijul won the man of the match award with 10 wickets in the match.

The Kiwis came under pressure at the end of batting against the target of 332 runs given by Bangladesh yesterday. New Zealand failed to handle the pressure, losing wickets at regular intervals in Taijul Islam’s whirlwind. The visitors ended the fourth day with 113 runs for the loss of seven wickets.

Darryl Mitchell’s unbeaten 44 was the last hope of New Zealand’s fightback. Mitchell picked up the ninth fifty of his Test career in the morning. This batsman was caught by Taijul while sweeping Naeem Hasan’s ball after scoring 58 runs off 120 balls. Then New Zealand captain Tim Southee came to the field and counter-attacked. Southi scored 34 runs off 24 balls in aggressive batting with 2 sixes and 1 four before being dismissed by Taijul.

Ish Sodhi, who has been resisting for a long time, was dismissed as the last batter. He was a victim of Taijul, who scored 22 runs off 91 balls. New Zealand’s second inning ended with 181 runs.

Bangladesh played the 7th Test against New Zealand at home. After three losses and three draws, Bangladesh won this first Test against the Kiwis at home. And left-arm spinner Taijul Islam made a great contribution to that. He took a total of 10 wickets in New Zealand’s two innings. After Shakib Al Hasan and Mehdi Hasan Miraj, Taijul became the third bowler in Bangladesh to take 10 wickets in a Test match for the second time. Taijul took 10 wickets for the first time in a Test in 2018 in Sylhet! Taijul took four wickets for 109 runs in New Zealand’s first inning. He took six wickets for 75 runs in the second inning.

The batsmen also have to talk about winning the Sylhet Test. Opener Mahmudul Hasan played an important innings with 86 runs in the first inning for Bangladesh. Three batsmen took the lead in the second inning: captain Nazmul Hossain (105), Mushfiqur Rahim (67), and Mehdi Hasan Miraj (50).
