International Desk: At least six journalists and media workers have been killed in the last 24 hours by Israel’s indiscriminate bombardment in the besieged Gaza Strip. Palestinian media watchdog MADA, the Palestinian Press Syndicate, said the journalists were killed in an Israeli attack overnight on Sunday.
Qatar-based media outlet Al Jazeera confirmed the deaths of six journalists and media workers in Gaza after reviewing the information and videos of the attacks by the two Palestinian organizations.
Journalists killed in the Israeli attack are journalist Mustafa Al-Sawaf, photographer Musab Ashour, Al-Aqsa Television engineer Amr Abu Haya, and Al-Aqsa Television administrator Abd Alhalim Awad.
Earlier, Al Jazeera reported on Sunday morning that two journalists were killed in an Israeli bomb attack on a Bureizi refugee camp in the Gaza Strip. The two journalists who were killed were working for Quds News. They are journalists, Sari Mansoor and Hasuneh Salim.
The Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ), a global organization that defends the rights of journalists, said in a report on Saturday that at least 42 journalists have been killed by Israeli attacks since the start of Israel’s war with Hamas on October 7 (November 18). Most of the journalists killed were Palestinians. Besides, Israeli and Lebanese journalists have also lost their lives in this ongoing war.
Since 1992, this New York-based organization has been collecting information and publishing statistics on journalists injured while serving in the conflict. They said the Hamas-Israel war recorded the highest number of journalist deaths in the first month of any conflict since statistics on journalist casualties were released.
Since the cross-border attack by the Palestinian resistance group Hamas on October 7, Israel has been carrying out continuous air and ground attacks on various facilities in the Gaza Strip, including hospitals, residences, and places of worship. The death toll of Palestinians in the Valley has exceeded 12,000 in Israel’s indiscriminate attacks. Most of them are women and children.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said that the Israelis’ casualties reached 1,200 in Hamas attacks. At first, Israel said that 1,400 citizens died in the attack by Hamas.
