Sports Desk: Bangladesh has entered the field against Sri Lanka in their eighth match in the World Cup. A dramatic incident happened in this match. Lankan batsman Angelo Mathews is timed out. He became the first batter to be timed out in international cricket.
Sri Lanka won the toss and put Sri Lanka into bat at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Monday (November 6), losing three wickets. After that, Sadira Samavikrama and Charith Asalanka added 63 runs to handle the pressure. However, Samavikrama was dismissed for 135 runs.
Then Matthews came to the crease. But the helmet he came down with was not completely safe. So another helmet was brought in, but Mathews didn’t think it fit either. According to MCC Laws 40.1.1, the next batter must be ready to play within 3 minutes after a batter is out. But Mathews couldn’t be that. And so Mathews was timed out due to Bangladesh’s appeal.
