Chittagong South Representative:<\/strong> Cox’s Bazar section of the Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar highway has 114 turns. Out of these 40 bends, two are in poor condition. As a result, 66 people were killed in 64 accidents on the roads in this district. 108 people were injured.<\/p>\n

The executive engineer of Cox’s Bazar Road and Township Department said there is a plan to install mirrors to avoid accidents in these dangerous bends. Shahe Arefin.<\/p>\n

He said, “Most of the traffic accidents on the Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar highway are due to turning.” The Cox’s’sazar section of this highway has 114 turns. Accidents happen more at these bends. So we have also identified 40 bends as dangerous and planned to install mirrors there. If the mirrors are installed, vehicles coming from the opposite direction can see the other vehicles in the mirrors. As a result, road accidents will decrease a lot.<\/p>\n

According to BRTA sources, 66 people were killed in 64 accidents in Chittagong-Cox’s Bazar in nine months, from January to September this year. 108 people were injured.<\/p>\n

According to the sources in the Comilla Region, 56 people died on this highway. Among them, 28 people died in the Chiringa Highway police station area, 6 people died in Shahpuri, 7 people died in Ramu Crossing, 12 people died in Malumghat, and 3 people died in Hoikyong.<\/p>\n

In-charge of Cox’s Bazar’s Chiringa Highway Police Station, Khokon Kanti Rudra, said, “Most of the Cox’s Bazar Chittagong highway has less width and more bends.” The number of vehicles is also higher than the road. As the footpath is low from the main road, the car fell into the ditch, and the accident happened. He said that from January this year to Saturday (October 21), 28 people were killed and 26 injured in accidents on the Chiringa highway under my responsibility. 34 vehicles were seized in these incidents. 15 cases and 4 arrests We have been doing awareness activities to prevent road accidents.<\/p>\n

BRTA Cox’s Bazar Circle (Motor Vehicle Inspector) Md. Mamunur Rashid said Sunday (October 22) is National Safe Road Day.
