M. Rezaul Karim has commented that the current government is formulating investment support policies in this sector for the development of the livestock sector.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525; text-align: justify;\">The minister made this comment while addressing the chief guest at the inaugural workshop on the formulation of livestock extension policy and the methane management framework at a hotel in the capital on Sunday (October 22). The workshop was jointly organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the Department of Livestock under the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, Government of Bangladesh.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525; text-align: justify;\">The minister said that the policy of the Bangladesh government is very helpful for investment in the livestock sector. The Livestock and Dairy Development Project (LDDP) of the Department of Livestock is providing policy support and implementing various activities to strengthen farmers&#8217; participation in knowledge and services in this sector. Through this project, efforts are being made to increase financial capacity by organizing farmers to form producer groups and encouraging them to save. Also, LDDP is trying to increase the knowledge and skills of farmers by conducting farm school. Making them self-reliant by imparting training.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525; text-align: justify;\">The minister said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Bangladesh is progressing better than many countries in the world. There has already been a great change in the livestock sector of this country. We are now self-sufficient in livestock production. The Livestock and Dairy Development Project is ongoing under the supervision of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock to increase the production and productivity of the country&#8217;s livestock. The World Bank and FAO are providing advice and technical support for the implementation of this project, considering the context of our country.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525; text-align: justify;\">PM Rezaul Karim said that the current government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, has some far-reaching goals. The government is working toward the goal of entering the developing world from LDCs by fulfilling all kinds of conditions, implementing the Eighth Five-Year Plan, implementing Vision 2041, and implementing Delta Plan 2100.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525; text-align: justify;\">He also said that Bangladesh is one of the largest deltas in the world. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina formulated the Delta Plan, a visionary plan for the next 100 years. How a country will be managed, how the people of that country will work, how mutual cooperation will be created, how knowledge and experience can be exchanged with other countries\u2014everything is in this plan.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525; text-align: justify;\">The minister further added that we have to work together not only for developed, developing, or least developed countries but for all. Otherwise, peace, happiness, and prosperity cannot be equitably distributed to the people of the world. Even though national borders can give us a separate identity, we cannot separate the sky, water, sea, and climate. For this, the entire world must work together. The World Bank, FAO, and other organizations should pay special attention to the deprived, underdeveloped, and poor countries of the world. Besides, special attention should be given to the underdeveloped, poor, and backward communities and those who are victims of climate change. Special emphasis should be placed on ensuring their food and nutrition security.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525; text-align: justify;\">Director General of the Animal Resources Department Under the chairmanship of Emdadul Haque Talukder, the additional secretary in charge of routine duties of the secretary of the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock, Nripendra Chandra Debnath, was present as a special guest in the workshop. ATM Mustafa Kamal, Additional Secretary of Fisheries and Ministry, Director General of Bangladesh Livestock Research Institute Dr. SM Jahangir Hossain, World Bank Senior Agricultural Economist Amadu Ba, and FAO Bangladesh Representative Arnold Hamliers A welcome speech was delivered by FAO, the LDDP team leader.
