Today, the Hindu community will celebrate the Mahashtami of Autumn, Durga Puja. Durga Puja’s special episode ‘Kumari Puja’ will be held on Mahashtami with great enthusiasm.<\/p>\n

According to Hindu mythology, on Mahasaptami, the Himalayan goddess Durga sits on the puja, blessing the devotees with welfare and peace. The main puja begins. Mahashtami will be held at ‘Kumari Puja’.<\/p>\n

Navapatrika bathed early yesterday morning. After the bath, the goddess’s life is established. Then the puja is held on the sixteenth day, according to the scriptures. At the beginning of the puja, the reflection of Goddess Durga in the mirror is bathed in a special ritual. Not only on Saptami but also on Mahashtami and Mahanavami days, Mahasnan is performed before the main ritual of puja begins. A mirror is kept in front of the idol of Goddess Durga, and a bath is done with various objects in the reflection of the idol reflected there. It is said that through these ritual ceremonies, special attention is given to the common mind to protect society’s agricultural resources, mineral resources, forest resources, aquatic resources, animal resources, land resources, etc. The purpose of this great bath is to bring out the concept of adultery as the institution of the Goddess in all the worlds in order to establish morality. The participation of people from all walks of life is a message of global solidarity and a non-sectarian community to the world.<\/p>\n

In addition, a new newspaper was established. Another name for it is Kala Bau Snan. Goddess Durga is worshiped in 16 rituals, including bell-tulsi, seat, cloth, offering, flower garland, and sandalwood. According to the scriptures, Navapatrika means nine trees. These trees actually symbolize the nine special forms of Goddess Durga. Then the eyes of Trinayani Durga were donated. According to the scriptures, the idol is covered with a cloth during eye donation. Eye donation is done with Kush and Kajal. Before the kush, the eyes of the goddess are offered with kajal. There are also special provisions in this case of eye donation. In the case of gods and goddesses with trinetra (three eyes), the eye of the upper eye is given first. After that, the left eye of the goddess and later the right eye were given eyes. In the case of deities, eyes are given to the left eye after the right eye. After all the formalities of the puja, the devotees, with flowers and leaves in their hands, offer Anjali to the feet of the goddess by chanting mantras.<\/p>\n

Many people have come out to see idols in temples and pavilions since noon yesterday. As the day progressed, the crowd of devotees and visitors increased. Apart from the puja formalities, devotional music, Ramayana Pala, Aarti, and cultural programs with the participation of children are organized in various pujamandaps in the afternoon. Representatives of various social and political organizations have been visiting various worship halls since yesterday. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will visit Dhakeshwari National Temple, Ramakrishna Mutt, and Ramakrishna Mission Mandap today afternoon.<\/p>\n

Today is Mahashtami. The crowd of devotees will increase in the mandapa temples. There will be aarti. According to the Pure Siddhanta Panjika, the Mahashtamadi Vihit Pooja of Goddess Durga will start today at 6:10 AM. Sandhi Puja will be held between 8:06 PM and 8:54 PM. The last 24 minutes after the end of the Ashtami Tithi and the first 24 minutes before the start of the Navami Tithi are called Sandhikash. It was during this time that Goddess Durga killed two terrible asuras named Chanda and Munda. This Sandhi Puja is performed every year at the junction of Ashtami and Navami to commemorate this event. One of the most important offerings in Sandhipuja is the lotus.<\/p>\n

In this puja, 108 lotuses are offered to the goddess, 108 bela patas are lit, and 108 clay lamps are lit. Offerings include whole fruits, jaba flowers, white rice, sarees, jewelry, and ornaments. Besides, Kumari Puja is held on Mahashtami. There are clear references to Kumari worship in the Devi Puranas. This year too, Kumari Puja will be held at several places, including Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu’s Matulaloy Sachiangan Dham at Ramakrishna Math and Mission, Jaipur village of Bahubal Upazila, Sylhet.
