No one knows his whereabouts. The court has issued an arrest warrant against him for failing to appear six times in a row. Plaintiffs, lawyers, and locals allege that Soumen Roy left the country to avoid arrest.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525; text-align: justify;\">The police arrested Soumen Roy with weapons on the spot immediately after the murder, which was discussed on June 13, 2021. He also gave a confessional statement under Section 164 in court by admitting the responsibility of the murder. The investigation officer submitted an investigation report to the court against him for shooting and killing three people because of alienation. In this situation, on November 6, 2022, the accused, Soumen, got bail from the High Court and came out of jail. He has been missing ever since. So far, six times, he has been ordered to surrender in the judicial court of Kushtia District and Sessions Judge Court Judge Ruhul Amin. But he never surrendered. On February 2, the court issued an arrest warrant against him as he failed to appear in court at the specified time. However, Kushtia and Magura model police do not know anything about the arrest warrant. Accused Soumen Roy is the son of Sunil Roy of Asba village in ward number three of Kuchiamora union of Magura Sadar upazila. He was last working as an ASI at the Phultala police station in Khulna.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525; text-align: justify;\">According to court sources, wife Asma Khatun (25), Asma&#8217;s son Robin (5), and Asma&#8217;s estranged lover Shakeel (28) were shot with official weapons in front of the Bikash shop of Naz Mansion Market in the Customs Mor area of Kushtia city on June 13, 2021. ASI Soumen Roy was shot dead. In this incident, the police arrested him on the spot along with his service revolver, bullets, and magazine. He was fired that afternoon. On the same day, Hasina Begum, the mother of Asma Khatun, filed a murder case against ASI Soumen Roy as the sole accused. On the afternoon of June 14, Kushtia Senior Judicial Magistrate Soumen gave a confessional statement admitting responsibility for the murder of Enamul Haque in court. The investigating officer of the case, Nishikanta Sarkar, submitted an investigation report against him. Soumen Roy took bail from the High Court on November 6, 2022. After that, he did not surrender, even though the date of surrender was fixed repeatedly in the Kushtia court. The court issued an arrest warrant against him on February 2, 2023, for not surrendering to the court. Although seven months have passed since the issuance of the arrest warrant, the officials of the concerned police station are not aware of the matter. He is currently absconding.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525; text-align: justify;\">Hasina Begum, the plaintiff in the case, said, Soumen shot and killed my daughter, her son Robin, and a young man named Shakeel in public. He escaped to India on bail from the High Court. After searching in different places, I heard that he fled to India. I am disappointed that the sole accused in such a brutal murder was granted bail. How is the bail of the only accused in the case of killing three people? I demand exemplary punishment from Saumen. He should be arrested quickly, and strict punishment should be ensured through the speedy disposal of the case.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525; text-align: justify;\">The court&#8217;s public counsel (PP), Anup Kumar Nandi, said the case of three people being shot dead is at the argument stage. The only accused, Soumen, is absconding after bailing from the High Court. The trial proceedings in the case are ongoing in the absence of the absconding accused. He did not appear in court several times in a row. Now that he is wanted, the court has issued an arrest warrant against him. The matter is within the knowledge of the police.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525; text-align: justify;\">Kushtia and Magura Model Police Stations know nothing about the arrest warrant. In this regard, Kushtia Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Syed Ashiqur Rahman said that the charge sheet has been submitted against Soumen, the only accused in the murder case of three people due to alienation. The arrest warrant is not known. The arrest warrant will be issued at Saumen&#8217;s permanent address.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525; text-align: justify;\">Hafizur Rahman, second officer of Magura Sadar police station, said that there is no pending warrant against Soumen at Magura police station. It may be stuck somewhere. There is no pending warrant for Soumen. No such information was found by checking the warrant registrar. However, if I get an arrest warrant order against him, I will try to arrest him and bring him under the law.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525; text-align: justify;\">The family members of the fugitive Soumen were not available for comment. However, local people said that Soumen was never seen in the area after the shooting of three people. But rumors have been heard that Soumen fled to India on bail.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525; text-align: justify;\">Incidentally, Asma got to know ASI Soumen while on duty at Kumarkhali police station in connection with a case. Later, a love relationship develops between them. At that time, his name was Soumen. Sumon Hossain kept and married Asma, according to Muslim law, with the name Sumon. Soumen was Asma&#8217;s third husband. They had been living in a rented house in Aruapara, Kushtia, since marriage.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525; text-align: justify;\">Asma started a relationship with developer Shakeel after ASI Saumen was transferred to the Phultala police station in Khulna. Saumen could not accept this relationship. He harbors anger toward Asma. Out of that anger, Soumen shot and killed three people publicly in the afternoon. The deceased are ASI Soumen&#8217;s wife Asma, Asma&#8217;s second husband&#8217;s son Robin, and her estranged lover Shakeel.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525; text-align: justify;\">Soumen Roy was promoted from constable to ASI in 2015. Later in 2016, Kushtia joined Kumarkhali police station.
