The Crime Desk:<\/strong> The burial of famous Bengali poet and freedom fighter Asad Chowdhury has been completed in Canada. He was buried at Pickering Dauphin Meadows in Toronto on Friday, October 6. Earlier, after Asad Chowdhury’s funeral at Toronto’s Nugget Mosque, the body was kept inside the mosque for public respect and honor.<\/p>\n

Before this, poet Asad Chowdhury died while undergoing treatment at Lake Ridge Hospital in Ashwa City, near Toronto, at 3:30 am local time last Wednesday. He was 80 years old. Due to the family’s decision, the body of poet Asad Chowdhury was not brought back to Bangladesh, and the funeral and burial were completed in Canada.<\/p>\n

The poet’s son-in-law said that the poet’s last wish was to be buried in the soil of Bangladesh. But currently, none of his family lives in the country. The whole family lives in Canada. Because of that, there was no chance to fulfill the poet’s wish.<\/p>\n

Poet Asad Chowdhury was born on February 11, 1943, in Bakerganj district. He completed his studies in Bengali literature at Dhaka University and taught from 1964 to 1972. Later, he worked as a journalist for several newspapers in Dhaka. From 1985\u20131988, I served as the Bangladesh Correspondent of the Voyage of Germany. He retired as its director after long service at Bangla Academy in Dhaka.<\/p>\n

In 1975, the poet gained immense popularity after the publication of his first poetry book, ‘Tabak Dewa Paan’. The number of his books is more than 100. Notable poems are: Bitta Nai Besat Nai, There is no question in the mountains in the north, writing in the water, whoever can do it, the oppression of the clouds from the middle field, the oppression of the birds, the sad people talk, the river also becomes empty, I am nobody in the news of Vrinti, I have extinguished some fruits, Homecoming is not straightforward, and the poem as a-whole is significant.<\/p>\n

He has also written for children and teenagers: Raja’s New Clothes, Raja Badshah’s Story, Village Bengal Stories, Little Prince, Sonar Kharam, Funny Folk Tales of Foreign Countries, The Chat of the Three Rasarajas, Keshwati Princess, Cobbler-Biography, and History-Based Books: Sangamri Nayak Bangabandhu, Rajinikanth Sen, Jugalbandi in Memory, and Liberation War of Bangladesh.<\/p>\n

Translated books ‘Arshinagar Close to Home: Urdu Poetry of Bangladesh’ and ‘Poetry of Protest in Palestine and Neighboring Countries’. Apart from writing, he was very popular for recitals and presentations.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
