In a statement on Monday local time, he urged the powerful groups of these countries to avoid intimidation and vengeance and adhere to the policy of &#8216;do not harm&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525; text-align: justify;\">An article titled &#8216;Co-operation with the United Nations, its representatives, and mechanisms in the field of human rights&#8217; was published last Thursday by the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC). News from AFP<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525; text-align: justify;\">The report was presented at the ongoing session of the UNHRC in Geneva, Switzerland. This session will continue until October 6.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525; text-align: justify;\">The Secretary General of the United Nations said in reference to this report that the United Nations is committed to taking steps to stop all forms of intimidation and retaliatory activities. The United Nations adheres to a zero-tolerance policy on intimidation and harassment of dissenters, and the United Nations believes that all issues can be resolved through discussion and dialogue.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525; text-align: justify;\">He said our efforts will continue to make the member states more democratic. We will strengthen our response to retaliation cases and continue our efforts to identify and document such incidents in annual reports. We will also strengthen the dissemination of information on this matter.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525; text-align: justify;\">The 40 countries on which the report has been prepared are Bangladesh, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Algeria, Andorra, Bahrain, Belarus, Burundi, Cameroon, China, Colombia, Cuba, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Djibouti, Egypt, France, Guatemala, India, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Libya, the Maldives, Mali, Mexico, Myanmar, Nicaragua, the Philippines, Qatar, Russia, South Sudan, Tanzania, the United Arab Emirates, Vietnam, Venezuela, Yemen, and Palestine.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525; text-align: justify;\">Based on data collected from May 1, 2022, to April 30, 2023, the UNHRC report states that at least 220 individuals and 25 institutions in these 40 countries are subject to ongoing harassment, intimidation, and retaliation by governments and influential groups.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525; text-align: justify;\">The United Nations Human Rights Organization has also mentioned that all of these individuals and groups who are victims of oppression by the state and the powerful are associated with human rights activities and civil society.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525; text-align: justify;\">In a press conference organized to mark the release of the report on Thursday, UNHRC chief and UN Assistant Secretary-General Ilje Brands Kehris said that due to various obstacles, they could not bring up the exact number of individuals and groups who were victims of persecution. In reality, this number is much higher.
