{"id":9202,"date":"2023-09-25T01:36:01","date_gmt":"2023-09-25T01:36:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/thecrimebd.net\/english\/?p=9202"},"modified":"2023-09-25T01:36:01","modified_gmt":"2023-09-25T01:36:01","slug":"adc-harun-scandal-time-limit-for-investigation-extended","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thecrimebd.net\/english\/news\/9202\/","title":{"rendered":"ADC Harun scandal: time limit for investigation extended"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\"><strong>Dhaka Bureau:<\/strong> The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has extended the deadline for the investigation of the incident related to the allegations brought against ADC Haroon Or Rashid in the case of the torture of two BCL leaders by three more working days.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">This information was provided by the public relations department of DMP on Sunday (September 24).<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Earlier on September 19, the investigation deadline was extended by three working days.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">On the night of September 9, the then Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADC), Harun Aur Rashid of the Ramna Division of the Police, was accused of torturing the central leaders of the Chhatra League by taking them from Bardem Hospital to Shahbagh Police Station.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">ADC increased while submitting the investigation report for the Harun incident.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Later, the Dhaka University proctor and police officials went to the police station and settled it at midnight.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">The injured BCL leaders were taken to the police station.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">On September 10, the police informed us that ADC Harun was removed from the Ramna Division and attached to the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Riot Control or Public Order Management Division.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">He was transferred to the Armed Police Battalion (APBN) on the evening of the same day.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">ADC Haroon was suspended the next day, September 11.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Finally, he has been attached to the Rangpur range of police.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">In this incident, DMP formed a three-member investigation committee on September 11.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">The chairman of the committee is Abu Yusuf, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations), DMP Headquarters.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">The other two members are Ramna Division Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Newmarket Zone) Shahen Shah and Additional Deputy Police Commissioner (Detective-Motijheel Division) Md.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Rafiqul Islam.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">The inquiry committee was supposed to report on September 13.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">But as they could not complete the investigation on that day, the committee asked the DMP commissioner for five more days.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">They are given time.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Tuesday was the last day to submit the investigation report to the DMP commissioner.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">But the committee asked for seven more days.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Finally, it was extended by three days.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dhaka Bureau: The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has extended the deadline for the investigation of the incident related to the allegations brought against ADC Haroon Or Rashid in the case of the torture of two BCL leaders by three more working days.
