{"id":8919,"date":"2023-09-10T04:25:46","date_gmt":"2023-09-10T04:25:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thecrimebd.net\/english\/?p=8919"},"modified":"2023-09-10T04:25:46","modified_gmt":"2023-09-10T04:25:46","slug":"world-suicide-prevention-day-is-today","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thecrimebd.net\/english\/news\/8919\/","title":{"rendered":"World Suicide Prevention Day is today"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\"><strong>Dhaka Bureau:<\/strong> Suicide cases are gradually increasing.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">361 students committed suicide in the last eight months of this year out of contempt for parents and school teachers.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">There are 169 school students, 96 college students, 66 university students, and 30 madrasa students.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">The private organization Anchal Foundation reported this information by combining the news published in various media.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">According to the information provided by the organization, the young generation chooses to commit suicide when they are unable to handle any adverse situation.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">In 2021, the number of suicides among university students was 101.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">The total number of student suicides in the country in 2022 was 532.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">In continuation of this, this year, 105 national, local, and online newspapers and portals across the country started collecting information about the suicide of students.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">According to their study, among the 361 students who committed suicide this year, 147 were male and 214 were female. <\/span><\/span><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">At the same time, 364 students committed suicide in 2022.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Dhaka division is at the top of suicides.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Female students lead in suicide cases.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Considering the age of suicide victims, it can be seen that students aged 13 to 19 have committed suicide more.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">The Anchal Foundation gave this information in a virtual press conference titled &#8216;Student suicide rate is increasing: what is the solution?&#8217;<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">In such a situation, World Suicide Prevention Day 2023 is being celebrated in the country today, September 10.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">The day will be celebrated in Bangladesh, as it is all over the world.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">This year the theme of the day has been decided: Create hope through action&#8217;.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Experts working on the subject say:<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Program manager of the non-communicable disease control program of the Department of Health.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Md.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Shahidul Islam informed me about the government initiative to prevent suicide and said that prevention of suicide and suicide attempts is considered a very important component of the &#8216;Non-Communicable Disease Control Program&#8217; controlled by the Health Department of the Bangladesh Government.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">For the first time, the government is going to approve a dedicated operational plan for Mental Health and Disability (MHD)&#8217; under the fifth HPNSP sector program to be implemented in the next financial year.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">In the next five years, mental health, including suicide, and its efforts will be undertaken to prevent sophisticated and science-based management, the benefits of which will soon be enjoyed by the people of the country.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Additional DIG of Highway Police Intelligence Planning and Research Farida Yasmin blamed the current generation&#8217;s loneliness for suicide, saying that the current generation likes to be alone a lot.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">From this loneliness arises emptiness in them\u2014emptiness from depression\u2014and later they feel burdened.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">If we can extend a helping hand to him during that loneliness, then he can be brought out of that place.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">National Institute of Mental Health Associate Professor Dr.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Helal Uddin Ahmed said, &#8220;We should focus on the physical and mental health of students. <\/span><\/span><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">In addition, students&#8217;
