{"id":8799,"date":"2023-09-04T13:03:40","date_gmt":"2023-09-04T13:03:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thecrimebd.net\/english\/?p=8799"},"modified":"2023-09-04T13:03:40","modified_gmt":"2023-09-04T13:03:40","slug":"draft-ansar-law-approved-death-penalty-for-rebellion","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thecrimebd.net\/english\/news\/8799\/","title":{"rendered":"Draft Ansar Law approved: death penalty for rebellion"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\"><strong>Dhaka Bureau:<\/strong> Cabinet has given final approval to the draft of the Ansar Battalion Act 2023. <\/span><\/span><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">The Act provides for various punishments, including the death penalty and life imprisonment for rebellion or disorder.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Besides, the provision of dismissal from the job has also been kept.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">The draft law was approved in the Cabinet meeting on Monday, September 4. <\/span><\/span><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">This meeting was held in the cabinet room of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina&#8217;s office in the morning.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Later in the afternoon, Cabinet Secretary Mahbub Hossain briefed the journalists on this matter.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">The secretary said that in cases of chaos and rebellion, the provision of the death penalty has been kept in this law.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Life imprisonment is also provided for.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">For the offense for which this Act provides the death penalty, there was no punishment under the old Act for the same offense. <\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">He also said that two courts will be formed for the Ansar and Village Defense Forces.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">One will be headed by DG.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">The other will be headed by an additional DG.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dhaka Bureau: Cabinet has given final approval to the draft of the Ansar Battalion Act 2023.
