Dhaka Bureau:<\/strong> Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has said that it is very sad that the session of Parliament has to start with a condolence motion.<\/span><\/span> It was hoped that this time would be an exception, but it was not.<\/span><\/span> 28 members of the current 11th Parliament have died, of whom 26 are from the Awami League.<\/span><\/span> And two are from the Jatiya Party (Japanese). <\/span><\/span>Among them, there are a few female members.<\/span><\/span> He said this while taking part in the discussion on the condolence motion brought to the parliament yesterday on the death of two members of Parliament from the ruling Awami League, Abdul Quddus (Nator-4) and Rebecca Momin (Netrakona-4).<\/span><\/span> Earlier, at 5 p.m., Speaker Dr.<\/span><\/span> The 24th session of Parliament started under the chairmanship of Shirin Sharmin Chowdhury.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

At the beginning of the meeting, the speaker nominated the presidium for the current session.<\/span><\/span> A condolence motion was then raised.<\/span><\/span> Later, as per custom, there was a discussion on the condolence motion for the deaths of the two members of the current parliament.<\/span><\/span> Taking part in the discussion and remembering the late Abdul Quddus, the Prime Minister said Abdul Quddus was very brave.<\/span><\/span> NATO was a place of terror.<\/span><\/span> He was elected there repeatedly.<\/span><\/span> Although he was forced to lose.<\/span><\/span> He was very popular with the people.<\/span><\/span> He said, “I knew Rebecca Momin from my student life.<\/span><\/span> He was an active member of the Chhatra League.<\/span><\/span> Matiur Rahman (the former Minister of Religion) was elected from Mymensingh.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

But when we came to an alliance, he gave up his seat to Roshan Ershad.<\/span><\/span> He was a great leader.<\/span><\/span> Whoever I told him to join should leave this seat.<\/span><\/span> He did not object even for a moment.’<\/span><\/span> Referring to the loss of many leaders and workers of the Awami League at various times, the parliament leader said, “The struggle they have endured, they have endured jail, oppression, and torture.<\/span><\/span> He was with the Father of the Nation. <\/span><\/span>After the killing of the father of the nation, they were subjected to various tortures.<\/span><\/span> I pray for the forgiveness of their souls.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

The Prime Minister said, ‘Our politics is for the welfare of the people.<\/span><\/span> Rebecca Momin, or Abdul Quddus, has always worked for the welfare of the people.<\/span><\/span> Rebecca Momin has donated land to our shelter project.<\/span><\/span> Such was their mentality.<\/span><\/span> lost them<\/span><\/span> It’s really painful; we have to discuss the condolence proposal again and again.’<\/span><\/span> He said, ‘We have worked for the welfare of the people of the country since the formation of the government.<\/span><\/span> Our development trend has reached the grassroots level.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

This is possible because the parliamentarians are performing their duties with utmost sincerity.<\/span><\/span> Those who have lost today and those who have been elected there will have an appeal. With the ideals and goals with which Bangladesh became independent, our only goal is to deliver the benefits of that independence to every home.<\/span><\/span> Parliament Deputy Leader Begum Matia Chowdhury, Member of Parliament Amir Hossain Amu, Tofail Ahmed, Oysika Ayesha Khan, Junaid Ahmed Palak, Sajjadur Rahman, Shafiqul Islam Shimul, Ashraf Ali Khan Khosru, Abdul Aziz, Mosiur Rahman Ranga, and others spoke on the condolence proposal.<\/span><\/span> After discussion, the condolence motion was unanimously accepted.<\/span><\/span> After that, a minute’s silence was observed in Parliament, and prayers were offered.<\/span><\/span> Later, as per custom, the meeting of Parliament was adjourned till 5:15 p.m. today, Monday, in honor of the late Abdul Quddus and Rebecca Momin.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n

Mourning others: Apart from two MPs from the government party, the parliament also mourned the deaths of former religion minister Adhikar Matiur Rahman, former MP Panna Qaiser, and Mohammad Ullah.<\/span><\/span> Apart from this, the Parliament mourned the former Chief of the Air Force, Air Vice Marshal (retd.) Sultan Mahmud, the organizer of the liberation war, Sirajul Alam Khan, the poet Mohammad Rafiq, and the Minister of State for Social Welfare.<\/span><\/span> Ashraf Ali Khan Khosru’s wife Kamrunnesa Ashraf Dina, publisher and editor of Ajker Kagaz newspaper Kazi Shahed Ahmed, Kamal Uddin Ahmed Khan, father of reserved seat MP Kaniz Fatema Ahmed, and agronomist Kazi Guava inventor Kazi M Badruddoza on death <\/span><\/span>The Parliament also mourned the deaths of those killed in the terrible fire in Maui, Hawaii Island, the tragic train accident in the Indian state of Odisha, and in various places in the country and abroad.<\/span><\/span> Session to continue until September 13: The 24th session, which started on September 13, will continue until September 13.<\/span><\/span> This decision was taken in the meeting of the working advisory committee of the parliament held at the parliament building yesterday before the session began.<\/span><\/span> However, the speaker can extend or reduce this period of the session if he wants.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In the meeting, it was informed that a total of 760 questions, including 25 for the Prime Minister and 735 for other ministers, have been received in the current session.<\/span><\/span> 21 attention notices were received under rule 71, and one notice was received under proposal (general) rule 147. <\/span><\/span>There are eight previously pending private bills.<\/span><\/span> Out of 25 government bills, 11 are under examination in committee, six are pending, and eight are waiting to be tabled in the session.<\/span><\/span> Who is in the Presidium?
