Today is 12 Bhadra, the 47th death anniversary of national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">This poet, a symbol of eternal youth, died on this day in 1976.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">The poet was buried with state honors next to the Central Mosque of Dhaka University.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Here he lies, in eternal sleep.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">In his literature, Nazrul covered the establishment of the republic under the leadership of Kamal Pasha in Turkey, the socialist revolution in Russia, and the wave of anti-British movements in India.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">At that time, he called for a revival of fanatical Muslims, and in this, he played the role of a strong leader.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Kazi Nazrul Islam is a poet of love, pain, and equality.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">The main man of Bengali literature, music, and culture <\/span><\/span><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">However, his writing struck India like a comet in the anti-British movement.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">He became a poet of rebellion.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Even today, through his various writings, lines of rebellion continue to ring in the hearts of Bengalis against lawlessness.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">His poem &#8216;Chal Chal Chal&#8217; is the battle song of Bangladesh.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Although known as a rebel poet in Bengali literature, he was also a poet, musician, novelist, storyteller, playwright, essayist, journalist, filmmaker, singer, and actor.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">He has created many diverse ragas and raginis and has held the Bengali music world in the highest esteem. <\/span><\/span><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Love, Betrayal, Communism, and Awakening poet Kazi Nazrul Islam&#8217;s poems and songs inspired the nation in the struggle against exploitation and deprivation.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">His songs and poems were a source of inspiration during the liberation war.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Nazrul&#8217;s poetry, songs, and literary works created a renaissance in Bengali literature.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">He was a pioneering writer on secular consciousness.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">His writings played a great role in the development of non-communal consciousness in national life.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">His poems and songs have been showing people the way to freedom from exploitation and deprivation for ages.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">In the history of Bengali literature, the &#8216;rebel poet&#8217; Kazi Nazrul Islam was the most colorful figure in the cultural world of the undivided Bengal of the subcontinent in the twenties and thirties of the twentieth century.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Kazi Nazrul Islam&#8217;s role in freeing modern Bengali poetry from the artificiality of Rabindranath&#8217;s failed imitation was most fruitful.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">So he is the pioneer of modernity in post-Rabindra literature.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Through his poetry, songs, novels, and other writings and political activities, Nazrul was the strongest and most vocal voice against communalism, feudalism, imperialism, and colonialism in subjugated India, especially in undivided Bangladesh.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Because of this, the British government confiscated his books and works and sentenced him to prison.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Even in prison, the rebel Nazrul protested the prison tyranny of the foreign government by fasting for 40 days.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">National poet Kazi Nazrul Islam was born in Churulia village, Bardwan district, West Bengal, in 1306.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Her nickname is &#8216;Dukhu Mia&#8217;.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">His father&#8217;s name is Kazi Fakir Ahmed, and his mother&#8217;s name is Zaheda Khatun.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">On May 24, 1972, the poet&#8217;s family came to Bangladesh on the initiative of then-Prime Minister Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">The Government of Bangladesh granted Kazi Nazrul Islam the citizenship of Bangladesh and declared him the National Poet.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">He remained in Bangladesh until his death.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Although his life span was 78 years, he fell ill in July 1942.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">After that, he spent 34 long years in unbearable silence.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Program on the occasion of the day<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">On the occasion of the death anniversary of the national poet, various social, cultural, political, and professional organizations have taken part in various programs, including paying tributes at the poet&#8217;s tomb.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Bangladesh Radio and Television and various private television channels have taken the initiative to air special programs on the occasion of the poet&#8217;s death anniversary.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Besides, Dhaka University will hold various programs, including paying respects at Kabir&#8217;s shrine, on the occasion of the day.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Meanwhile, Chhaynat has organized a program on the occasion of the national poet&#8217;s death anniversary today at 7 p.m. at Chaynat Auditorium.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Crime Desk.
