{"id":8529,"date":"2023-08-23T11:03:33","date_gmt":"2023-08-23T11:03:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thecrimebd.net\/english\/?p=8529"},"modified":"2023-08-23T11:05:27","modified_gmt":"2023-08-23T11:05:27","slug":"bangladesh-and-the-us-in-the-10th-bilateral-defense-dialogue","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thecrimebd.net\/english\/news\/8529\/","title":{"rendered":"Bangladesh and the US in the 10th Bilateral Defense Dialogue"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\"><strong>Dhaka Bureau:<\/strong> The 10th Bilateral Defense Dialogue between Bangladesh and the USA is going on in Dhaka.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the dialogue, which began on Wednesday (August 23), will continue until Thursday.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Since 2012, defense dialogue between the two countries has started.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Once in the US and once in Bangladesh, this is how the dialogue has been going.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">The ninth dialogue was held in the United States last year,<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">so this is happening in Bangladesh.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Brigadier General Hussain Muhammad Masihur Rahman, Director General of the Department of Armed Forces, Operations, and Planning, is leading the delegation of Bangladesh in the defense dialogue.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Brigadier General James Thomas John is leading the US delegation.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">The Bangladesh delegation includes officials from various agencies, including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Armed Forces, Border Guard Bangladesh, and Bangladesh Coast Guard.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">ISPR said in a press release that the dialogue aims to create an opportunity for broader discussions on military cooperation between the two countries.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Highlighting the multi-dimensionality of relations with the United States, the circular said, &#8220;Since independence, the basis of cooperation between Bangladesh and the United States has been strong.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Our relationship is multi-dimensional, multi-faceted, and ever-evolving.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">&#8221; The continued support of the United States to provide defense development and training assistance to the Bangladesh Armed Forces is evident.&#8221;<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">ISPR has highlighted the fact that every year, many members of the Bangladesh Armed Forces receive training at various institutions in the United States.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">According to the notification, the dialogue will discuss defense and military cooperation, technology, defense equipment, disaster response, peacekeeping operations, etc. in the field of global and regional security and defense cooperation, training, inspection, joint exercises and deployment, workshops, etc. in the field of training.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">The Principal Staff Officer (PSO) of the Department of Armed Forces, Lt. Gen.
