Additional Public Prosecutor Tapas Pal said that the judgment will be at 3 p.m. <\/span><\/span><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">According to Mosharraf Hossain Kajal, the senior lawyer of Dukad who handled the case on behalf of the state, the fugitive Tariq Rahman and his wife Zobayda Rahman can be sentenced to 13 years imprisonment in the eyes of the law.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">That is why police security has been increased on the court premises since Wednesday morning.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">The case against former prime minister Khaleda Zia&#8217;s son Tariq and his wife was filed in 2007 during the military-controlled caretaker government for allegedly acquiring assets disproportionate to their income.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Tarek was then arrested.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">After being released on bail in 2008, Tareq and his family went to the UK for treatment.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">After that, he did not return to the country.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">He became the senior vice chairman of BNP from abroad, and he took the post of acting chairman of BNP after his mother went to jail.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dhaka Bureau: BNP Acting Chairman Tariq Rahman and his wife Zobaida Rahman&#8217;s &#8216;non-disclosed income&#8217; wealth case verdict has increased court security.
