{"id":8008,"date":"2023-07-18T05:15:34","date_gmt":"2023-07-18T05:15:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thecrimebd.net\/english\/?p=8008"},"modified":"2023-07-18T05:15:34","modified_gmt":"2023-07-18T05:15:34","slug":"55-whales-die-after-stranding-on-a-beach-in-scotland","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thecrimebd.net\/english\/news\/8008\/","title":{"rendered":"55 whales die after stranding on a beach in Scotland"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\"><strong>International Desk:<\/strong> 55 pilot whales washed up on a beach in Scotland have died.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">However, it is not known why the whales died.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Although pilot whales have the word whale in their name, they are dolphins.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Dolphins of this species are always together.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">They are very conscious of family.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">BBC news.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">The whales were found by an organization called British Divers Marine Life Rescue Charity (BDMLR).<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">BDMLR said the 55 whales died before their rescue team reached the beach.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">They found only 15 whales alive.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Later, out of those 15, three died.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">The rescue team helped 12 whales back to sea.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Eight of them are adults, and four are children.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">&#8220;Unfortunately, no one survived the ordeal,&#8221; BDMLR captioned a photo of the dead whales posted on its social media platform, Facebook.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">The reason why the whales got stuck on the beach is not yet known.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">However, it is believed that the group may have followed a female whale.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">&#8220;One of the dead whales was found to have a vaginal dislocation,&#8221; the BDMLR said.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">It is therefore suspected that the entire group was trapped following a female whale as she approached the beach due to giving birth.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Andrew Brownlow, of the Scottish Marine Animal Stranding Scheme, told the BBC: &#8220;This is our biggest ever in terms of animal casualties.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">However, the cause of the whales deaths is not known.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Some whale samples and data will be collected for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">The whales will be buried after the autopsy is completed.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">It should be noted that such an incident has happened in Scotland before.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Pilot whales are seen in large numbers in this area.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">The British Divers Marine Life Rescue Charity was formed in 1988 to save these pilot whales.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>International Desk: 55 pilot whales washed up on a beach in Scotland have died.
