{"id":7984,"date":"2023-07-17T05:54:08","date_gmt":"2023-07-17T05:54:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thecrimebd.net\/english\/?p=7984"},"modified":"2023-07-17T05:54:08","modified_gmt":"2023-07-17T05:54:08","slug":"independent-candidate-tarekuls-announcement-of-a-vote-boycott","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thecrimebd.net\/english\/news\/7984\/","title":{"rendered":"Independent candidate Tarekul&#8217;s announcement of a vote boycott"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\"><strong>Dhaka Bureau:<\/strong> Independent candidate for Dhaka-17 Constituency Tariqul Islam Bhuya has announced he will boycott the polls, alleging irregularities, rigging, and intimidation against the boat agents.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">He came to the Banani Model School center at 9 a.m. on Monday (July 17), and after visiting the center, he announced the boycott.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Abstaining from voting, he said, &#8216;I am a candidate.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">But at first, I was not allowed to enter the center.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">He further complained, &#8216;Every center is forcibly sealing the boat symbol.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">The Awami League and the administration have organized farce elections with mutual cooperation.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">For this reason, I am boycotting the election of comedy.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">The candidate also alleged that the administration and election magistrates did not take any action despite being informed about the expulsion of the polling agents from the center. <\/span><\/span><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">He said, &#8220;They (magistrates) are playing a silent role.&#8221;<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Earlier, the polling for the Dhaka-17 seat by-election started at 8 a.m. and will continue till 4 p.m. <\/span><\/span><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Votes are taken on ballot papers.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">The election commission conducted the by-elections of the national parliament in EVMs, but the by-elections of the Dhaka-17 constituencies are being conducted on ballot papers.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">However, the polling booths are monitored by CCTV cameras.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dhaka Bureau: Independent candidate for Dhaka-17 Constituency Tariqul Islam Bhuya has announced he will boycott the polls, alleging irregularities, rigging, and intimidation against the boat agents.
