{"id":7941,"date":"2023-07-13T03:43:15","date_gmt":"2023-07-13T03:43:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thecrimebd.net\/english\/?p=7941"},"modified":"2023-07-13T03:43:15","modified_gmt":"2023-07-13T03:43:15","slug":"two-acc-officers-withdrawn-on-corruption-charges","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thecrimebd.net\/english\/news\/7941\/","title":{"rendered":"Two ACC officers withdrawn on corruption charges"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\"><strong>Dhaka Bureau:<\/strong> Two officials of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) have been recalled on charges of bribery and corruption.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">On Wednesday, two officers from Jessore and Kurigram offices were withdrawn and transferred to the ACC head office.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">ACC Director (Administration and Human Resources Department) Md.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">This information is known from an order signed by Moniruzzaman Bakaul.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">The accused officers are Assistant Director (AD) of Jessore Integrated District Office.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Mostafizur Rahman and Deputy Assistant Director (DAD) Sudip Kumar Chowdhury of Kurigram Integrated District Office.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">They have been directed to vacate their workplace by July 13 in the transfer order.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">According to ACC sources, a departmental investigation is underway against these two officials after the allegations of accepting bribe.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Mostafizur Rahman, the assistant director of the Pabna district office of the ACC, was accused of accepting bribes recently.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">A video of alleged bribe-taking went viral on social media.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Allegedly against him, he was given the responsibility of investigation against bank officials along with a businessman for allegedly embezzling four crore taka in the name of loan from a private bank.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">The businessman demanded a bribe of Tk 20 lakh from Shamsul Haque by assuring that he would be freed from the charges.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">This officer accepted 76 thousand taka in several stages.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">After this incident, Mostafizur Rahman was transferred from Pabna to ACC&#8217;s Jessore district office.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">On the other hand, a complaint was filed against Sudip Kumar Chowdhury, Deputy Assistant Director of the Bogra District Office of the ACC by threatening a police officer with a case.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">In a press conference on April 9, Rumaiya Shirin, the sister of the police officer, claimed that her brother Alamgir Hossain was working as a Deputy Inspector (SI) in the Bogra District Police.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Alamgir was asked to file a statement of assets through a notice.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">He then filed the statement of assets.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Sudip Kumar Chowdhury was given the responsibility of verifying the asset statement.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">After that, he demanded a bribe of seven lakh taka by threatening the case.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">He was not satisfied with the bribe of Tk 5 lakh and 80 thousand but filed a case.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dhaka Bureau: Two officials of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) have been recalled on charges of bribery and corruption.
