{"id":7867,"date":"2023-07-04T02:52:23","date_gmt":"2023-07-04T02:52:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thecrimebd.net\/english\/?p=7867"},"modified":"2023-07-04T02:52:23","modified_gmt":"2023-07-04T02:52:23","slug":"ship-explosion-in-jhalakathi-kills-4-burns-19","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thecrimebd.net\/english\/news\/7867\/","title":{"rendered":"Ship explosion in Jhalakathi kills 4, burns 19"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\"><strong>Jhalkathi Correspondent:<\/strong> The number of injured in the second round of explosions on the Sagar Nandini-2 ship in the Sugandha river in Jhalkathi has increased to 14.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Of the 14, 12 are policemen, and two are ship&#8217;s crew.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">A total of 19 people have been killed and four have been burned so far in two consecutive days of explosions on the ship.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Two of those injured in the explosion last Monday (July 3) evening have been sent to the Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in the capital for advanced treatment.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">One in Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital and 11 in Jhalkathi Hospital.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Jhalakathi Fire Service and Civil Defense confirmed this information at night.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Sagar Nandini-4 was removing oil from Sagar Nandini-1, which exploded in the first phase on July 1 while anchored in the Sugandha River in Jhalakathi around 6 p.m. on Monday.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Meanwhile, Sagar Nandini-2 exploded in the second phase.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">The ship has been on fire since 6 p.m. (latest 1 a.m.) until the writing of this report.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">11 units of the Fire Service, Coast Guard, and BIWTA are working to control the fire, said Jhalkathi Fire Service and Civil Defense Deputy Director Feroze Kutubi.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Nasir Uddin, OC of Jhalkathi Sadar Police Station, said that after the accident, the policemen were injured in the second round of explosions while engaged in security work during oil removal.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">A naval contingent has already been deployed in the rescue operation.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">The force&#8217;s rescue ship, &#8216;Dolphin, reached the spot from Barisal.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">ISPR informed the media of this information.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jhalkathi Correspondent: The number of injured in the second round of explosions on the Sagar Nandini-2 ship in the Sugandha river in Jhalkathi has increased to 14.
