Container handling at this port has been steadily decreasing since last August. As a result, the revenue of Chittagong Customs decreased. In the last three months, Chittagong Customs revenue has decreased by thousands of crores of rupees.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to Chittagong port sources, due to the dollar crisis, the import of various products has decreased dramatically due to the reluctance of banks to open LCs. Again, many importers refrained from importing at this time due to the abnormal increase in the value of the dollar.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Apart from this, exports have also decreased due to non-receipt of orders for various garments from outside the country and many orders have been cancelled. As a result the port&#8217;s container handling has decreased.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to the statistics obtained from the port, container handling in Chittagong port was 1 lakh 14 thousand 920 units in the month of August, this number decreased to 1 lakh 1 thousand 493 in September. Last October this number further decreased to 97 thousand 538 units.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Secretary of Chittagong Port Authority Omar Farooq admitted the fact that container handling has decreased and said, &#8220;Container handling is currently experiencing a temporary slowdown. Container handling has steadily declined since last August. This situation has arisen because the traders have reduced the import and export of goods. We expect that container handling will increase in the future after overcoming the recession.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Meanwhile, due to the decrease in import and export, the revenue income has had a big impact on Chittagong Customs. The revenue income has continuously decreased from last August to October. Last August, the revenue of customs in import and export trade was 5 thousand 498 crores. In the month of September, this income decreased to 5 thousand 105 crores. In the last month of October, the revenue of customs was 4 thousand 911 crores.
