{"id":7618,"date":"2023-06-12T07:50:19","date_gmt":"2023-06-12T07:50:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thecrimebd.net\/english\/?p=7618"},"modified":"2023-06-12T07:50:19","modified_gmt":"2023-06-12T07:50:19","slug":"chandgaon-passport-office-mrp-passport-issue-10-lakh-tk-per-day-in-bribe-trade","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thecrimebd.net\/english\/news\/7618\/","title":{"rendered":"Chandgaon passport office MRP passport issue: 10 lakh Tk. per day in bribe trade!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\"><strong>Nagar Reporter:<\/strong> Deputy Director of Chittagong Chandgaon (Panchlaish) Regional Passport Office, Tarek Salman, has expressed reluctance to issue MRP passports to Chittagong remittance fighters coming from diaspora under the pretext of an NID card for the greater interest of the country and the nation.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Complaints have been made.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Remittance warriors, who are one of the suppliers of the economy of Bangladesh, are sending money to Bangladesh after years of hard work in different countries.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Many of them have not been able to collect the National ID Card (NID) of Bangladesh due to their stay abroad.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">The current government is discouraging MRRP passports and issuing e-passports in line with the developed countries of the world.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">It is mandatory to submit the NID cards of oneself and family members to collect an e-passport.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">It is not possible to get an e-passport without a NID card.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">because the NID card is mandatory in the software technology used to generate this passport.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Passport authorities cannot issue an e-passport without favoring the NID card.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Expats who come from abroad and want to return must have valid passports.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">must<\/span><\/span><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\"> return to work overseas at regular intervals during the term.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">When it is not possible to return abroad with an expired passport, one has to go to the Chandgaon (Panchlaish) passport office with an application for an MRP passport, and one has to suffer constant irony.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">A MRP passport is not obtained without paying a large bribe, even if one applies for the passport following all the conditions that are given to issue another MRP passport.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">On the other hand, applying for a NID card takes a long time. <\/span><\/span><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Even after the affected expats applied for NID cards and submitted all the necessary documents, including application receipts, Deputy Director Tariq Salman refrained from issuing MRP passports at the behest of the government.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">According to the complaint, MRP passports are easily obtained by paying large sums of bribes through brokers &#8220;with tokens&#8221;.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Around 10 lakh rupees of bribe trade is going on in the Panchlaish passport office every day.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">1500 taka for each e-passport; 800 taka for not queuing for submission; 500 taka for not queuing for passport delivery; at least 10,000 taka for age change; 5,000 taka for each passport for name error; work resources.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">If the certificate is not given along with the title, any customer without a broker goes directly to the Chandgao Passport (Panchlaish) office and keeps wandering day after day on various pretexts.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Which is unbelievable but true.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Despite the numerous articles and news stories published in different electronic media, print media, and online, no problem has been resolved.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">If you go to the passport office and see expatriates clamoring to get MRP passports, any human being will cry.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">When I informed Chittagong Regional Passport Officer Saeed Ahmad to issue a passport in compliance with all the conditions regarding the issue of MRP passports, he said, &#8220;If the documents are correct, I have instructions to issue an MRP passport on an urgent basis to an expatriate or a dementia patient.&#8221;<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">The Hon&#8217;ble Prime Minister has directed the government to provide all kinds of facilities to expatriates.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">MRP passports may be phased out like handwritten passports.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">But until now, there has been no government directive regarding the issuance of MRP passports.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">He said that apart from Bangladesh, we have visa offices in different countries of the world, but those offices are still not issuing e-passports without MRP.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Therefore, the rule of issuing MRP passports on an urgent basis for expatriates and murmur patients is in force in every passport office in Bangladesh.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Most of the people of Chittagong are working in different parts of the world.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">If they come to Chittagong to get expired MRP passports and give proper instructions to the Chandgaon (Panchlaish) passport office, if the government stops issuing MRP passports, they should be informed through the official gazette.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Journalist Kamal Uddin told The Crime that he demanded that Chandgaon (Panchlaish) passport office be corruption-free and protect expatriates from harassment in the case of MRP passport issue, besides investigating our complaints through high-ranking officials of the government to ensure punishment against criminals.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Nagar Reporter: Deputy Director of Chittagong Chandgaon (Panchlaish) Regional Passport Office, Tarek Salman, has expressed reluctance to issue MRP passports to Chittagong remittance fighters coming from diaspora under the pretext of an NID card for the greater interest of the country and the nation.
