International Desk:<\/strong> Recep Tayyip Erdogan was sworn in as the President of Turkey for the third term on Saturday. He was sworn in as the new president for five years. He then formed a new cabinet. Hours after he was sworn in as president, his cabinet was unveiled. By becoming president in this round, Erdoan’s ruling power was extended to three decades.<\/p>\n

His swearing-in ceremony was held at the Parliament in Ankara, the capital of Turkey. The country’s national television broadcast the event live. Besides, a grand program was organized at the President’s Palace. Several state leaders were present.<\/p>\n

In the oath, Erdoan said, “As president, I swear my honor and integrity before the great Turkish nation and its history to protect the existence and independence of the state. I am committed to the constitution, the rule of law, democracy, Atat\u00fcrk’s policies and reforms, and the principles of a secular republic.” I will comply.’<\/p>\n

Erdoan defeated Kemal Kilicdarolu in the second round of the presidential election on May 28. Erdogan received 52.2 percent of the vote. Despite polls suggesting that Erdogan’s support has fallen due to the rising cost of living in the country, he has proven everyone wrong.<\/p>\n

One of the biggest issues in Turkey’s just-concluded elections was the economy, especially out-of-control inflation. The cost of living crisis reduces the purchasing power of the country’s citizens. Turkey’s annual inflation stood at 40 percent in April, down from 85 percent last year, the official said. Curbing this inflation is seen as Erdoan’s biggest challenge.<\/p>\n

The first round of voting took place in Turkey on May 14. Erdoan got 49.52 percent of the votes that day. Kemal got 44.88 percent of the votes. Turkey’s electoral law states that if no candidate receives 50 percent of the vote, the election will be held in a second round.<\/p>\n
