Bijan Kumar Biswas, Chakaria (Cox’s Bazar) Correspondent: The murder took place on Tuesday (02 May) around 8:30 pm in the south of Sholhichcha in Dulahazara Union in Chakaria. The deceased Azizur Rahman is the son of Saleh Ahmed of Dakshin Baluchar area of Ward No. 6 of Dullahazara Union.<\/p>\n
Eyewitnesses and family members of the deceased told The Crime that Azizur Rahman, an employee of Chingri Gher, was abroad for the past 5 years. In order to bring prosperity to the family, he came from abroad and took a one-year lease of the local Md. Ehechan’s prawn enclosure for crabs. He has a three-year-old daughter and a one-year-old son. Aziz was the second among five brothers and sisters in the family.<\/p>\n
On the day of the incident, Aziz was going to pick prawns from his house at around eight o’clock in the night. At that time, when the new Ghona arrived in the shrimp enclosure area in the south of Sholhichcha, Md Ishahak, the employee of Zamir Uddin, the owner of the adjacent shrimp enclosure, stopped him and got into an argument over a solar power bulb that he had taken the previous day. At one stage in front of the other gher employees, Aziz said that he would bring the bulb, but the accused gher employee Ishahak got angry and ran from the shrimp gher house with a knife and inserted it into Azizur Rahman’s stomach.<\/p>\n
At that time, hearing his screams, people came forward from the nearby shrimp enclosure, and the killer Ishaq fled from the scene. Later, people went to the spot and rescued the injured Azizur Rahman and took him to Chakaria Upazila Government Hospital, where the doctor on duty of the emergency department declared him dead.<\/p>\n
Fakhruddin, a member of ward number 6 of Dullahazara Union and cousin of the deceased, told The Crime that the deceased Aziz had been abroad for a long time. Basically, to bring prosperity to his family, he rents his shrimp cage from a local farmer for crabbing instead of staying at home. That’s why he regularly surrounds shrimp. He was stabbed to death in an argument over a trivial incident yesterday. We demand a fair trial for this murder.<\/p>\n
Chandan Kumar Chakraborty, officer-in-charge (OC) of Chakaria police station, told The Crime that Aziz, an employee of the prawn enclosure, was stabbed over an argument over an electric bulb. The guard died on the way to the hospital.
