Dhaka Bureau:<\/strong> Today is the 94th birth anniversary of Martyr Jani Jahanara Imam. He was born on May 3, 1929, in Sundarpur, Murshidabad district, India. She was a writer, a fiction writer, an academic, and a leader of the anti-murderer movement in the 1970s.<\/p>\n

Jahanara Imam’s famous book ‘Ekattorer Dingul” In 1971, his eldest son, Shafi Imam Rumi, participated in the country’s liberation struggle and was arrested by the Pakistani army after several successful guerrilla operations. Later, he died as a result of torture. After winning the war of independence, Rumi’s friends accepted Rumi’s mother, Jahanara Imam, as the mother of all freedom fighters. On the basis of Rumi’s martyrdom, he was awarded the Martyrdom of Martyr Janani.<\/p>\n

Martyr Janani Jahanara Imam lost her husband and child at the same time in 1971. Jahanara Imam’s family directly and indirectly participated in the liberation war. His 19-year-old eldest son, Shafi Imam Rumi, gave up the opportunity to study engineering in America and jumped into the liberation war, ignoring the fear of death at the call of the country.<\/p>\n

On March 26, 1992, the symbolic execution of Ghulam Azam, the top murderer of 1971, was ordered through the public court formed under his leadership. Since then, this struggling woman has played a vocal role in demanding justice for war criminals. He devoted himself to establishing the dignity of the Liberation War through various activities. His efforts to bring war criminals and racketeers to justice were remarkable.<\/p>\n

On December 29, 1991, when Jamaat-e-Islami declared the top war criminal Ghulam Azam as their party’s emir, the people of the country erupted in protests against it. Against this audacity of the Jamaat, 70 political, social, and cultural organizations who believed in the spirit of the liberation war were formed on January 21, 1992, as the Khatak Dalal Nirmul Committee of 71.<\/p>\n

Later, on February 11, the National Coordinating Committee for the Implementation of the Spirit of the Liberation War and the Elimination of Killer Brokers of the 1970s was formed on a wider scale. Martyr Janani Jahanara Imam was unanimously elected as the convener of this committee. Jahanara Imam, a martyred mother who lost her husband and children in the liberation war and was suffering from incurable cancer, led a fierce mass movement demanding the trial of Ghulam Azam and war criminals.<\/p>\n

Jahanara Imam died on June 26, 1994. He completed his master’s degree from Dhaka University and obtained a certificate in education from San Diego State College, USA. Jahanara Imam was born to Deputy Magistrate Syed Abdul Ali and Syeda Hamida Begum.<\/p>\n
