Sahabuddin urged India to take more effective steps to speedily repatriate the forcibly displaced Rohingya to their country of Myanmar.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525; text-align: justify;\">He made this call during the courtesy meeting of India&#8217;s High Commissioner in Dhaka, Prannoy Kumar Verma, with the President at Bangabhaban on Tuesday (May 2) afternoon.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525; text-align: justify;\">The President said that although Bangladesh shelters the Rohingyas for humanitarian reasons, their stay is creating problems not only in Bangladesh but for the entire region. The president&#8217;s press secretary, Zainal Abedin, said these things.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525; text-align: justify;\">Referring to Bangladesh as India&#8217;s closest and most important neighbor, the President termed the relationship &#8220;strong and unique&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525; text-align: justify;\">President Sahabuddin Bangabandhu recalled with gratitude the important role played by the people and government of India in the great freedom struggle of Bangladesh under the leadership of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Shahabuddin, the brave freedom fighter, also highlighted his participation in the liberation war in India during the 1971 liberation war.<br style=\"color: #252525;\" \/>\u00a0\u00a0<br style=\"color: #252525;\" \/>Referring to the visit of the President and Prime Minister of India to Bangladesh and the visit of the Prime Minister of Bangladesh to India, the President said that this visit has marked the beginning of a new chapter in the relationship between the two countries.<br style=\"color: #252525;\" \/>\u00a0<br style=\"color: #252525;\" \/>Referring to Bangladesh&#8217;s bilateral relations with India, President Sahabuddin said, &#8220;The agreement reached for the use of Chittagong and Mongla ports will accelerate the socio-economic development of the two countries as well as the increase in trade and commerce.&#8221; India has received commercial permission to transport goods within its own country using the port.<br style=\"color: #252525;\" \/>\u00a0<br style=\"color: #252525;\" \/>Earlier in 2018, Dhaka and Delhi signed the ACMP (Chittagong and Mongla Port) agreement in India. Under this, Bangladesh allowed India to transport goods to its country using Chittagong and Mongla ports.<br style=\"color: #252525;\" \/>\u00a0<br style=\"color: #252525;\" \/>The President expressed hope that the unresolved issues between the two countries, including the water distribution agreement, would be resolved soon through mutual cooperation and discussion.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525; text-align: justify;\">The High Commissioner of India said that his country attaches special importance to the development of relations with Bangladesh. Connectivity between the two countries has increased a lot in the last decade and a half. The people of both countries are reaping the benefits.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525; text-align: justify;\">Appreciating the Bangladesh government&#8217;s &#8216;zero tolerance&#8217; policy against terrorism and militancy, he said that, as a result, stability has come to the region, which is contributing positively to the economic development of both countries.
