Kristalina Georgieva led the delegation.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525; text-align: justify;\">Meanwhile, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is visiting the United States to attend a program organized to celebrate 50 years of partnership between Bangladesh and the World Bank. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will attend the World Bank event on Monday (May 1) local time.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525; text-align: justify;\">After the meeting of the IMF Managing Director with the Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen told reporters that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina highlighted the various initiatives taken by the government to ensure the overall development of Bangladesh in a conversation with the IMF chief.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525; text-align: justify;\">In the meeting, the Prime Minister said that while in jail, he made plans on how to take Bangladesh forward. He came to power for the second time in 2009 and started working according to the plan. This development of the country did not happen overnight; it is the result of long-term planning.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525; text-align: justify;\">Sheikh Hasina also mentioned the various steps taken by the government to combat the harmful effects of climate change and empower women. He said that Bangladesh has taken a loan from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as a &#8216;breathing space&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525; text-align: justify;\">Meanwhile, the IMF MD praised the Prime Minister&#8217;s leadership. At the same time, he praised the economic stability of Bangladesh despite the shock of the Corona and Ukraine-Russia wars.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525; text-align: justify;\">Kristylina Georgieva said that Bangladesh has achieved significant progress due to extensive infrastructural development, good connectivity, and law and order management.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525; text-align: justify;\">Earlier, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina arrived in Washington, DC, at 3:35 PM (local time) on April 28 to attend a program organized to celebrate 50 years of partnership between Bangladesh and the World Bank. Bangladesh&#8217;s ambassador to the United States, Muhammad Imran, and the alternate executive director of the World Bank welcomed the Prime Minister at the Dallas airport in Washington, DC. Ahmed Kaykaus.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525; text-align: justify;\">After a seven-day visit to Washington, DC, she will leave the United States for London on May 4 for the coronation of Charles III and his wife Camilla as King and Queen of the United Kingdom and Commonwealth of Nations.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525; text-align: justify;\">The Prime Minister visited Japan on April 25. In Japan, the Prime Minister is given a red carpet reception and a guard of honor.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525; text-align: justify;\">During the Prime Minister&#8217;s visit to Japan, eight MoUs and agreements were signed between Dhaka and Tokyo, including in agriculture, metro rail, industrial development, ship recycling, customs matters, intellectual property, defense cooperation, ICT, and cyber security cooperation. On April 26, Sheikh Hasina paid a courtesy call on Emperor Naruhito of Japan. On the same day, he also held a bilateral meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida after signing the agreement and memorandum of understanding.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525; text-align: justify;\">On April 27, 1971, the Prime Minister presented the &#8220;Friends of Liberation War Honor&#8221; to four Japanese nationals for their contribution to the Bangladesh Liberation War and also attended the investment summit and reception.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525; text-align: justify;\">During his visit to Tokyo, the Prime Minister attended several bilateral meetings, including meetings with Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi and meetings with leaders of JICA, JETRO, JEBIC, JBPFL, and JBCCEC.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525; text-align: justify;\">Sheikh Hasina also met Aki Abe, wife of the late former Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, and a Japanese architect, Tadao Ando.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525; text-align: justify;\">Bangabandhu&#8217;s youngest daughter and Sheikh Hasina&#8217;s younger sister, Sheikh Rehana, Foreign Minister Dr. AK Abdul Momen, Agriculture Minister Abdur Razzak, Prime Minister&#8217;s Private Industry and Investment Adviser Salman F Rahman, State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shahriar Alam, State Minister for Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid, and State Minister for Information and Communication Technology Junaid Ahmed Palak are among the relevant high-level government officials during the Prime Minister&#8217;s visit was with to Japan.\u00a0 The Prime Minister is expected to reach Dhaka from London on May 9.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dhaka Bureau: International Monetary Fund (IMF) Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva met Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who is visiting the United States.
