International Desk:<\/strong> Sudan is in the midst of a power-sharing conflict between the army and the powerful paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF). So far, 27 people have been reported killed in the fighting between the two forces in the country’s capital, Khartoum, and in other parts of the country.<\/p>\n

Three UN staff members were among the dead. Apart from this, at least 200 people were injured. News from the BBC and Al-Jazeera<\/p>\n

The country’s doctors’ union confirmed the death toll in a statement on Saturday. However, they did not give details about whether the casualties were civilians or not.<\/p>\n

The doctors’ union statement also said there were countless casualties in the western Darfur region and the northern town of Merobi. Among them are members of the army and the RSF.<\/p>\n

Both the country’s army and RSF forces have claimed control of Khartoum’s international airport and major cities.<\/p>\n

According to the army, the RSF base is being attacked by jets. The country’s air force has urged local people not to leave their homes at this time. Residents of Khartoum told the BBC of their fear and panic.<\/p>\n

The country’s generals have been running the country since a coup in October 2021.<\/p>\n
