Dhaka Bureau:<\/strong> Central Shaheed Minar freedom fighter and founder of the Gonoshasthaya Institute, Dr. Jafrullah Chowdhury, has been given a guard of honor. He was given this honor by the state on Thursday, April 13, at 12:30 p.m.<\/p>\n

After 10 o’clock in the morning on Thursday (April 13), people from all walks of life were brought to the Central Shaheed Minar to pay their last respects to the founder of Gonoshasthaya Kendra and heroic freedom fighter Dr. Zafrullah Chowdhury’s dead body. People of various classes and professions, including politicians, doctors, journalists, and intellectuals, are flocking to pay their respects.<\/p>\n

At 10:05 a.m., Dr. Bardem went to the freezer van from the hospital. Former Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University, Professor AK Azad Chowdhury, was the first to pay his respects after taking the body of Zafrullah Chowdhury to the Central Shaheed Minar. Later, a delegation led by the leaders of the Revolutionary Communist League, Rashed Khan Menon, teachers from Dhaka and Jagannath Universities, doctors, politicians, journalists, and people from various professions paid tribute.<\/p>\n

On Wednesday (April 12), Gonoshasthaya Kendra Chairman Altafun Nescha Maya said that Zafrullah Chowdhury’s first funeral will be held at Suhrawardy Udyan in the capital on Thursday at 2:30 p.m.<\/p>\n

He also said that on April 14 (Friday) at 10 a.m. on Savar’s public university campus, Dr. Zafrullah Chowdhury’s body will be kept. A second funeral will be held there after Friday prayers.<\/p>\n

On Tuesday (April 11), around 11 o’clock at night, Dr. Gonoshasthaya Nagar Hospital breathed his last under treatment. Zafrullah This 81-year-old freedom fighter had been suffering from kidney problems for a long time, as well as various complications related to old age.<\/p>\n

In 1971, Dr. King served the wounded freedom fighters by building a hospital in the Great War of Liberation. Zafrullah saved many lives. After the war of liberation, he did various works in medical research, health systems, and health management. He also played a major role in formulating the National Medicines Policy and the National Health Policy. He also arranged for affordable treatment through Gonoshasthaya Kendra and Gonoshasthaya Nagar Hospital.<\/p>\n

Although not directly associated with any political party, Dr. was active in various political processes throughout his life. Zafrullah He has given solidarity and supported various mass-oriented movements and struggles. He was awarded the Freedom Award in 1977 for his contribution to national life.<\/p>\n

Zafrullah Chowdhury has received national and international awards or honors in various phases of his life in recognition of his work. In 1977, the government gave him a freedom award. Ramon Magsaysay of the Philippines received the award in 1985. He was given the Right Livelihood Award from Sweden in 1992. Canada’s World Organization of Natural Medicine awarded him the Doctor of Humanitarian title in 2009. The International Public Health Heroes Award was given in 2010 in Berkeley, USA. Voice for Global Bangladeshis, an organization of expatriate Bangladeshis in the UK, gave Zafrullah Chowdhury the ‘NRB Liberation War Hero 1971’ award in 2022.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
