The death toll in this attack has increased to 100 people.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525; text-align: justify;\">The number of women and girls among the dead is worth mentioning. This information was confirmed on Wednesday (April 12) by the Myanmar Army. AP news.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525; text-align: justify;\">A spokesman for the military, Zhao Min Tun, confirmed that security forces carried out the attack on an event organized by alleged opponents of military rule in the village of Pa Ji Gi.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525; text-align: justify;\">He also said that some of the dead were anti-coup fighters in uniform. But &#8216;there may be some people in civilian clothes&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525; text-align: justify;\">He blamed some of the deaths on landmines planted by the counter-coup, known as the People&#8217;s Defense Forces (PDF).<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525; text-align: justify;\">Eyewitnesses told the local media that the militant planes launched the attack by dropping bombs on the community hall in the early hours of Tuesday morning. Shortly after the bombing, they opened fire from the helicopter. This hampered efforts to rescue survivors at the scene.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525; text-align: justify;\">U Ne Jin Lat, a former legislator from the region, told the local media Irrawaddy that many people, including children, had been killed. Initial casualties were more than 50. Later, this number increases.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525; text-align: justify;\">Ko Ong, a resident of Pa Ji Gi, arrived at the scene soon after the attack. He said he was &#8220;horrified&#8221; to see the bodies strewn on the ground. The motorbikes were burning. The house was also completely destroyed in the bombing. People were crying as they searched for their relatives.<\/p>\n<p style=\"color: #252525; text-align: justify;\">Ko Aung told Irrawaddy News that he lost relatives in this attack. The army started firing from Mi-35 helicopters.
