International Desk:<\/strong> Prince Edward has been named as the new Duke of Edinburgh, United Kingdom. The BBC reported this information, citing an announcement from Buckingham Palace.<\/p>\n

According to reports, King Charles III bestowed the title of ‘Duke of Edinburgh’ on his late father, Prince Philip, and his brother, Edward. Edward was given the title on his 59th birthday in honor of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip’s wishes. He will hold this position for life.<\/p>\n

Prince Philip received the title of Duke of Edinburgh when he married Princess Elizabeth in 1947. Elizabeth later became Queen Elizabeth II in 1952. Rani died in 2022. Earlier, Prince Philip died in 2021. He was Duke of Edinburgh for 70 years.<\/p>\n

Almost two years after Philip’s death, his younger son, Prince Edward, became the new Duke of Edinburgh. It is known that Prince Philip always wanted his youngest son, Edward, to have this title. But as king, only Charles had the power to decide on the matter.<\/p>\n

Edward, the 13th heir to the British throne, will be officially inaugurated next May. He will then become the new Duke, and his wife Sophie will become the Duchess of Edinburgh. Both are due to travel to Edinburgh with their new titles on Friday, March 10.<\/p>\n
