This loan was approved at the meeting of the IMF Executive Board held on Monday night (January 30), Bangladesh time.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal confirmed this to the media. He expressed his gratitude to the organization for approving the loan.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to the Ministry of Finance, the IMF will lend 4.5 billion dollars to Bangladesh in seven installments at 2.2 percent interest. Of this, the first installment of $352.35 million may be released in February. The last installment of this loan will be given in 2026.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal said, &#8220;We are definitely grateful to the IMF for this.&#8221; The ability of the Bangladeshi economy has been revealed through the IMF&#8217;s approval of this loan.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On July 24, 2022, the Bangladesh government sent a letter to the IMF asking for a loan. In addition, on October 12 of that year, Governor Abdur Rauf Talukdar announced the loan assistance of 4.5 billion dollars at the World Bank-IMF annual conference in Washington. At the end of October, a delegation led by Rahul Anand, head of the IMF&#8217;s Asia and Pacific region, arrived in Dhaka for a two-week visit. They hold regular meetings with various government departments, regulatory bodies, and stakeholders.
