International Desk:<\/strong> Nav Kishore Das, the health minister of the eastern Indian state of Odisha, was shot dead by a police officer named “Gopal Das.”<\/p>\n

He was shot dead near Gandhi Chowk in Brajrajnagar, in the state’s Jharsuguda district, on Sunday (January 29). The accused police officer is an assistant sub-inspector. News from NDTV<\/p>\n

The health minister was going to attend a function. At that time, the police officer fired two rounds at him, and they hit him in the chest. He was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries.<\/p>\n

Brajrajnagar sub-division police officer Gupteswar Bhoi told reporters, “Assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of police Gopal Das fired at the minister on Sunday.” The minister is admitted to the hospital.<\/p>\n

Eyewitnesses claimed that Health Minister Nav Kishore Das was shot as he got out of his car. The motive of the attack is still unclear.<\/p>\n

An eyewitness said Nav Das was the chief guest at a pre-arranged inauguration ceremony on Sunday. When he arrived at the venue, a crowd gathered to welcome him. And in the meantime, the sound of gunshots is heard. We saw a policeman run away after being shot at close range.<\/p>\n
