Khulna Office:<\/strong> The much talked about Godfather Ershad Shikder’s luxury house ‘Swarna Kamal’ is being demolished. This house was built in Majid Sarani of Sonadanga in Khulna city. The house witnessed many misdeeds of Ershad Shikder. At one time many curious people used to gather to see this house.<\/p>\n

On May 10, 2004, Ershad Shikder was hanged in Khulna District Jail. Then Zaulush lost the luxurious house. So far the house was shrouded in mystery. At one time, many people were shocked to hear about the brutality of Ershad Shikder. Fear was created in the body. That history is old now. But still the mystery surrounding Ershad Shikder does not end. Still strange words float in his name in the air of Khulna.<\/p>\n

Ershad Shikder was controlling Ghat No. 4 and 5 area of Khulna metropolis at that time. Became the Commissioner of Khulna City Corporation. After that he became known as ‘Big Mia’ to the locals. In 1980-81, he was known as ‘Ranga Chora’ in that area. That thief became the godfather of the crime world in Ghat No. 4 and 5 area of Khulna.<\/p>\n

On May 10, 2004, Ershad Shikder’s personal life ended by hanging in Khulna District Jail. But Majid Sarni’s beautiful two-storied house ‘Svarna Kamal’ in Khulna city, built by his own hands, has been shrouded in mystery for a long time. Even after almost two decades, people came from far and wide to see the house.<\/p>\n

Locals say, ‘Swarna Kamal’ is a popular house in Khulna. Old but strong. The house looked very nice from outside. People are very curious about Ershad Shikder’s house. Many people came from far and wide to see the house. Suddenly I see the house being demolished. I heard that the house will be demolished and a 10-storey building will be built. It feels bad to tear down the house.<\/p>\n

Ershad Shikder’s younger son Kamal Shikder said that they had an old three-storied and another two-storied house on KDA’s 10 khata land. They demolished the old three storied building with laborers a few days ago. Now half of the two-storey building is being demolished. There is a plan to construct a 10 storey building on the demolished 5 khata land.<\/p>\n

After HM Ershad came to power in 1982, Ershad Shikder entered politics by joining Jatiya Party. Elected Ward Commissioner in 1988. Ershad Shikder joined BNP after the formation of BNP government in 1991. On December 26, 1996, he changed his party and joined Awami League. But in the face of criticism, he was expelled from Awami League after a few days. At the time of his arrest in 1999, Ershad Shikder was the 21st Ward Commissioner of the city. He became more powerful after entering politics. From 1984 to 1986, he engaged in other criminal activities including taking possession of Khulna Railway property and forced personal property, drug trade, extortion and multiple rapes. He was a terror in the ghat area to be alive. He was involved in more than half a hundred murders. His bodyguard Nure Alam gave a statement in the court describing the 24 murders. On May 10, 2004, he was executed by hanging in Khulna District Jail at midnight.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
