ABC News reported this information citing a local official.<\/p>\n<p>According to reports, the clashes started when Nuer youths attacked other communities. The Nuer people suffered more casualties in the conflict. Greater Pibor Administrative Area Government Officer Abraham Kelang confirmed this information.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">South Sudan gained independence from Sudan in 2011. But they have been mired in deadly inter-communal conflicts over land and livestock for decades.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Kellang said the clashes started on Saturday (December 24) when armed Nuer youths attacked Murle communities in Gumuruk and Likuangol areas. The conflict is still going on. Among the dead, 51 were from the Nuer community, while only 5 were from the Murle community.<\/p>\n<p>The United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in the country (UNMISS) warned a few days ago that youths from the Nuer community were mobilizing in preparation for a possible attack on the Murle community.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Latest they said, monitoring the situation of increasing tension and clashes, increased patrolling in and around the affected areas.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>International Desk: At least 56 people have been killed in four days of ethnic conflict in the eastern jungle state of South Sudan.
