The letter also explained the reasons behind the arrest of BNP leaders Mirza Fakhrul and Mirza Abbas. Sources from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs have confirmed the matter.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Sources in the ministry confirmed that the letter was given to diplomatic missions through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday (December 12).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to the letter, in front of the central office of BNP in Nayapaltan on December 7, the leaders and workers of the organization of the party blocked the road. They had no pre-determined program that day. They did not even take permission from the police. The police requested them to move as the blockade disrupted traffic in the Nayapaltan area. But the BNP protesters ignored it and started vandalizing vehicles besides pelting bricks and cocktails on the police. In their attack, 49 police personnel were injured, one of whom was in critical condition.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The letter also said that at one stage the protesters clashed with the members of the law enforcement agencies. Tragically, a pedestrian was killed in the collision. Due to effective action taken by the police then major damage to property was avoided.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In the letter regarding the arrest of BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and Standing Committee Member Mirza Abbas, the preliminary investigation of the case by the police in the Nayapaltan clashes showed that they were involved in planning reckless violence and inciting party workers to attack the law enforcement agencies.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Dhaka Bureau: The government has sent a letter to the diplomatic missions in Dhaka regarding the clash between the party leaders and the police in front of the central office of BNP in Nayapaltan of the capital on December 7.
