Dhaka Bureau:<\/strong> Dhaka Metropolitan Awami League is ready to deal with the sabotage of BNP as per the instructions of the Centre. Leaders and workers of the organization’s northern and southern branches are keeping a watchful guard in every neighbourhood, educational institution and oligli. They have occupied their respective areas of Dhaka with positions from morning till night, marches and motorcycle showdowns. Apart from Awami League leaders and activists, Chhatra League, Jubo League, Mahila Awami League, Jubo Mahila League leaders and activists are also present. It can be said that the streets of Dhaka are now under the control of the rulers. Even BNP’s party office is guarded around the Nayapaltan area by the party leaders and activists.<\/p>\n

It is known that Awami League leaders and activists have been on the field since last Thursday morning. They have taken up positions in their respective areas. Local ward councilors of the ruling party have also managed to keep their respective areas under their control. The same position was seen yesterday Friday.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Dhaka North and South Awami League held separate programs yesterday to keep Dhaka occupied. Dhaka Metropolitan North Awami League organized protest march in each police station ward. Leaders and workers of Awami League in the metropolis and Thana took part in these programs. Demonstrations took place after Friday prayers in Badda, Mirpur, Gulshan, Banani, Uttara, Khilkhet, Dakshinkhan, Rampura, Kafrul, Mirpur, Mohammadpur, Gabtali areas of the capital. Chhatra League activists held a motorcycle showdown. Besides, leaders and activists of Awami League and allied organizations have set up temporary checkpoints in Gabtali and Uttara areas, the gateway to Dhaka. Abdullahpur area was led by Habib Hasan, Member of Parliament of Dhaka-18 Constituency. Awami League police station committee leaders including Dhaka-14 Constituency Member of Parliament Aga Khan Mintu, Jubo Mahila League leader Sabina Akhter Tuhin were seen constructing a temporary stage at Gabtali Bus Terminal area. Their followers are on alert in these areas. Today, they will be stationed in each area from morning.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, Dhaka Metropolitan South Awami League is also in a cautious position. The organization held a gathering of lakhs of people on Friday to show their strength. Leaders and activists of each police station and ward took part in the rally. Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader and leaders from central and metropolitan south took part in the rally held at the capital’s Mahanagar Natyamanch. Top leaders of allied organizations also participated in it. The rally spread beyond Mahanagar Natyamanch to Baitul Mukarram, Gulistan, Bangabandhu Avenue, Dainik Bangla area on the other side. It was announced from the rally that there should be vigilance in every area from this morning.<\/p>\n

Chhatra League leaders and activists marched in different areas of Dhaka South yesterday. Many people with a motorcycle fleet have performed around the Nayapaltan office of BNP. Chhatra League marched in Sabuj Bagh of the capital. Khilgaon, Malibagh, Shahjahanpur, Motijheel, Shahbagh, Moghbazar, Ramna, Dhaka University Campus, Dhaka College, Eden Mahila College, Jagannath University in Old Dhaka, Kabi Nazrul Government College, Government Shaheed Suhrawardy College Chhatra League leaders and activists were keeping watch in front of the campus. Apart from this, the leaders and workers of Abujar Giffari College and Siddheshari College Chhatra League also kept vigil until the night to get a bench at the main gate of their respective campuses.
