The incident occurred around 6 pm on Sunday (May 11) in the Bangla Bazar Ghat area. The passengers on the boat swam to the shore and boarded nearby boats to safety.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">At the same time, two groups of boatmen got into a fight on the riverbank. The video of the incident went viral on social media. However, the real reason for the commotion could not be confirmed. Locals said that there was a lack of security during the competition.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Sadarghat Naval Police Station OC Md. Nazim Uddin said, \u201cI was on duty in the river at the time of the incident, but no one reported the boat capsizing.\u201d Although the video footage has gone viral.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Alhaj Moin Uddin, joint convener of the organizing committee, said, \u201cThe sunken boat belongs to locals. No one was injured.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ichanagar Sadarghat Sampan Samity emerged as the champion in the competition organized by Abbas Construction. Eleven teams participated in it. The program was presided over by Ali Abbas, Senior Joint Convener of South District BNP.
