And for that, a comprehensive road safety law is needed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The speakers said these things at a discussion with journalists on \u2018Role of the media in strengthening safe roads\u2019 organized by the Dhaka Ahsania Mission Health Sector in Dhanmondi on Sunday (February 2) night.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The speakers said, \u201cIn order to halve the number of deaths and injuries in road crashes in line with the Sustainable Development Goals and the United Nations Global Plan, Bangladesh must significantly reduce the number of preventable road crashes, deaths, and injuries. For this, appropriate strong policies and legal frameworks are needed. Although the \u2018Road Transport Act 2018\u2019 and \u2018Road Transport Rules-2022\u2019 are currently in force, there has been no significant development in the road safety system.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The event, chaired by Dhaka Ahsania Mission Health and WASH Sector Director Iqbal Masud and moderated by Dainik Manabzamin Senior Reporter Shuvro Deb, was attended by Global Road Safety Advocacy and Grants Program Manager Taifur Rahman, Global Health Advocacy Incubator Country Coordinator Dr. Shariful Alam, Dhaka Reporters Unity General Secretary Mainul Hasan Sohel, Banglavision Senior News Editor Abu Rushd Md. Ruhul Amin, and Ekattor Television Special Correspondent Shahnaz Sharmin.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">At the time, Global Road Safety Advocacy and Grants Program Manager Taifur Rahman discussed the Safe System Approach and the weaknesses of the Road Safety Act.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He said, \u201cA road safety law is needed in light of the Safe System. Because there is no law related to road safety in the country. A law that will ensure safe road infrastructure, safe vehicles, and the safety of road users.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Drawing the government&#8217;s attention to enacting a road safety law and its proper implementation, Dr. Shariful Alam, Country Coordinator of the Global Health Advocacy Incubator, said, &#8220;Safe roads are a fundamental right for everyone.
