Lawyer Asif Hasan represented the ACC.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On August 23, 2020, ACC Assistant Director Md. Riaz Uddin filed a case against Pradeep Kumar and Chumki Karan on charges of acquiring illegal assets.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In the case, Pradeep and Chumki were charged with acquiring assets beyond known income of Tk 3 crore 95 lakh 5 thousand 635, concealing information about assets, and laundering money. After the investigation, some changes were made to the amount of money.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Chumki Karan was absconding from the beginning of the case. However, on May 23, 2022, he surrendered to the court on the last day of testimony. The court ordered him to be sent to prison. Since then, Chumki Karan has been in prison.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On July 27, 2022, the Chittagong Divisional Special Judge Court sentenced Pradeep Kumar to 20 years in prison and his wife Chumki Karan to 21 years in prison in this case.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Chumki later appealed to the High Court. While the appeal was pending, he applied for bail. After the hearing, the High Court granted him bail on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Former OC Pradeep Kumar is a death row convict in the murder case of retired army Major Sinha Md. Rashed Khan.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On July 31, 2020, retired Major Sinha Md. Rashed Khan was shot dead at the APBN checkpost in Cox&#8217;s Bazar.
