The Crime Desk:<\/strong> The Ministry of Education has decided to send the government portion of the salary allowance, or MPO, of private school and college teachers and employees through the Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT) process from next January.<\/p>\n

Therefore, the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education has rescheduled the time for the enrollment, or MPO enrollment, of teachers and employees of institutions and the application for various financial benefits, including higher grades and B.Ed. scales.<\/p>\n

According to the new schedule, teachers and employees of private schools and colleges will be able to apply for MPO enrollment and related applications by the 6th of every ‘even’ month like February, April, and June. Earlier, the opportunity to apply for MPO enrollment was available until the 8th of every even month.<\/p>\n

And the MPO committee will meet between the 10th and 12th of every ‘odd’ month like January, March, May, or July and decide on the MPO enrollment of the teachers and employees who have applied.<\/p>\n

Government employees receive their salaries and allowances in EFT. On the other hand, although the salaries and allowances of MPO-affiliated teachers and employees are deducted from the government treasury, they are deducted in a largely ‘analog’ manner through eight state-owned banks.<\/p>\n

In many cases, including approvals at several stages for the deduction of salaries and allowances through banks, there is a delay in receiving the salaries and allowances of MPO-affiliated teachers in related work. Sometimes, even after the 10th of the next month, the salaries and allowances of the previous month are still collected.<\/p>\n

In the past, MPO-affiliated teachers of private educational institutions, which run the majority of the education system, have also faced the ’embarrassing’ situation of receiving one Eid festival allowance in another Eid. As a result, teachers, like government employees, have been demanding to receive their salaries and allowances through EFT at the beginning of the month.<\/p>\n

In this context, the Ministry of Education announced on October 5, World Teachers’ Day, that private teachers will be paid their MPO salaries and allowances in EFT.<\/p>\n

Initially, 209 teachers and employees of private MPO-affiliated schools and colleges were deducted their MPO EFT for the month of October. Preparations have also begun to collect information to include other teachers and employees in the MPO EFT.<\/p>\n

Syed A.Z. Morshed Ali, Deputy Secretary of the Private Secondary Branch of the Secondary and Higher Education Department of the Ministry of Education, said that a meeting was held at the ministry on November 12, and it was decided to send the MPO EFT of teachers and employees of private schools and colleges from January. This is our target. For this, the information of the teachers has to be included. This is a technical process.<\/p>\n

He also said that the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education is preparing to collect information to include the MPO of all teachers and employees in the EFT. After collecting the information, if it is included in the IBUS Plus Plus process, we will give them the MPO in the EFT from January.<\/p>\n

Professor Dr. Khan Moinuddin Al Mahmud Sohel, Director of the Secondary Wing of the Directorate, told bdnews24.com that the application time for MPO enrollment has been rescheduled to simplify the process of paying salary allowances in the EFT.<\/p>\n

According to the new schedule, the applications for MPO enrollment of teachers and employees will have to be sent by the head of the institution by the 6th of every even month. Upazila education officers will verify and settle them by the 12th of that month and district education officers by the 20th and send them to the regional directors and deputy directors.<\/p>\n

They will verify and approve them by the 6th of the odd month and send the approved applications to the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education. The concerned branch of the department will re-verify them and send them to the \u2018Education Management Information System (EMIS)\u2019 on the 8th of the odd month.<\/p>\n

The MPO committee will meet from the 10th to the 12th of every odd month and decide on the MPO enrollment of the teachers and employees who have applied.<\/p>\n

Earlier, in an order issued by the department on November 14, all teachers and employees were asked to collect their national identity cards, mobile phone numbers registered against the national identity cards, and the 13-17 digit number of the bank account in which they receive MPO to provide information on sending MPOs of schools and colleges to EFT.<\/p>\n

After the process of sending MPOs of private schools and colleges to EFT has started, the process of sending the salaries and allowances of teachers and employees of madrasas, which are in a separate process, is also underway, Deputy Director of the Finance Branch of the Madrasa Education Department Md. Abul Basar told bdnews24.com.<\/p>\n

The Technical Education Department, which has been running MPO work in the ‘analog method’ for a long time, has already started the process of taking MPO applications of teachers and employees of technical education institutions to the online server.<\/p>\n

Teachers enrolled in MPO have applauded the initiative to send the salaries and allowances of private school and college teachers and employees to EFT.<\/p>\n
