In the Savar and Ashulia police stations of the upazila, robberies are almost a daily occurrence at the intersections of various alleys after evening. Roads and highways are not left out. Stones, pieces of bricks and eggs were thrown at the cars moving on the road late at night or all the belongings of the passengers and drivers were taken from the passengers.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Savar Bazar bus stand and its surrounding areas have several large shopping malls and various commercial institutions, banks, insurance, shops, gold shops, markets, schools, colleges and government institutions. Currently, this stand and the surrounding area has become a haunt of terrorists and robbers. Incidents of robbery are also happening on the Dhaka-Aricha highway. Several young men are selling various drugs including yaba and ganja. And in the evening or at night, they are taking hostages at the intersections of different streets and looting the money of common people.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Recently, Upazila Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Abu Bakar Siddique of Kalapara, Patuakhali District, was caught by robbers after getting off the bus in Savar&#8217;s C&amp;B area. At that time, the robbers stabbed him in the stomach, chest and back and fled with his mobile phone and money. Later the police rescued him and admitted him to Enam Medical Hospital. The owner of this incident, Tara Russell, was arrested by the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB). Besides, the police have arrested some other robbers involved in this incident.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Earlier, members of an organized robbery gang tied the hands and feet of an autorickshaw driver and robbed his battery-operated autorickshaw in the Bank Town area of \u200b\u200bSavar. When the autorickshaw reached in front of the Bank Town Bridge on the Dhaka-Aricha highway, the three robbers started beating the driver. Later, fearing native weapons, they tied his hands and feet and left him on the side of the highway, stole the auto-rickshaw and fled. In this incident, the locals rescued the driver and informed the police station. Later, the police arrested the two robbers in an early morning raid and recovered two stolen auto-rickshaws and indigenous weapons from them. Autorickshaw driver Aminul was beaten up and an autorickshaw was robbed in Bilpara of Genda Mohalla of Savar Municipality recently. A woman&#8217;s earrings were snatched away by robbers at Bazar bus stand last Friday. The woman&#8217;s ear was cut off.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to the investigation, robbers are roaming in about 20 spots including Genda Bus Stand, Shimultala, Ulail, Pakija Mor, C&amp;B, Palli Vidyut, Rangaban Nursery, Bypile, Kabirpur, Jamgra. This gang is divided into three-four parts and is conducting this criminal activity. One after the other, they carry out robberies, thefts, drug dealings, but they are out of touch. Buyers from faraway places are being robbed on their way to the market or on their way back. The robbery gang hangs out around Savar Bazar Bus Stand, Newmarket and City Centre. Many people have complained that this gang is intoxicated. They are seen roaming the streets around the market in an intoxicated state.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Deepak Chandra Saha, OC of Savar police station, said that all-out efforts are being made to bring this gang under the law. Some people have already been arrested.
