These facts emerged in the report of the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) investigation committee regarding the explosion.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to this investigation report, when the mother vessel &#8216;Omera Lagacy&#8217; carrying 98 thousand 383 metric tons of Marban crude oil imported from Abu Dhabi entered Qutubdia outer anchorage on September 17, the crude oil discharge from the ship started yesterday morning.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Then a fire broke out in the ship&#8217;s four peak stores (where the ship&#8217;s ropes, anchors, and spare parts are kept) soon after discharging about 800 metric tons of crude oil. At this time, deck cadet Saurabh Kumar Saha, BSC foreman Nurul Islam, and workers Md. When Aaron went to do his routine work, there was an explosion due to excess flammable gas accumulated there.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The report also said that the 10 thousand 916.846 metric tons of cargo in the ship is safe. It will take about 22 hours to complete cargo discharge. Once the cargo discharge is completed, the ship will be removed for repair or refit.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to Bangladesh Shipping Corporation (BSC) sources in the report, a representative of the Explosives Department will visit the ship to monitor the safety of the ship for the purpose of discharging the remaining cargo on board. If the vessel is certified as safe, cargo discharge will be undertaken subject to other machinery of the vessel being in working order. Both MT Bangla&#8217;s Jyoti and MT Bangla&#8217;s Saurabh ships built in 1987 have a lifespan of about 37 years. As there is no possibility of getting replacement ships for these two ships within the country, the said ships have been kept operational by proper repair or maintenance.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Earlier yesterday, Monday (September 30) around 9:30 am, MT Bangla Jyoti arrived at Dolphin Jetty of Eastern Refinery in Karnaphuli river Patenga with about 10,000 tons of crude from outer anchorage. The explosion occurred around 11 a.m. while berthing at the jetty. Three people were killed in the explosion.
