{"id":1777,"date":"2022-11-29T04:16:51","date_gmt":"2022-11-29T04:16:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/thecrimebd.net\/english\/?p=1777"},"modified":"2022-11-29T04:16:51","modified_gmt":"2022-11-29T04:16:51","slug":"the-netherlands-will-give-7-5-million-dollars-for-the-rohingyas","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thecrimebd.net\/english\/news\/1777\/","title":{"rendered":"The Netherlands will give 7.5 million dollars for the Rohingyas"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Cox&#8217;s Bazar Correspondent:<\/strong> The Netherlands has decided to provide $7.5 million through the International Organization for Migration (IOM) for the welfare of forcibly displaced Rohingya refugees and their host communities in Cox&#8217;s Bazar district.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">An agreement has been signed between the Embassy of the Netherlands in Dhaka and the IOM for the implementation of the project titled &#8216;Environmental restoration and strengthening tolerance of Rohingya refugees and host communities in Cox&#8217;s Bazar&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The project aims to provide multi-sectoral support to Rohingya refugees and host communities in Cox&#8217;s Bazar, a press release said on Monday.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Dutch Deputy Ambassador in Charge of Affairs Thijs Woodstra and IOM Bangladesh Officer in Charge Fatima Nusrat Ghazzali signed the agreement on their respective behalf at the IOM office in Dhaka.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">More than 1 million Rohingya refugees have taken refuge in Cox&#8217;s Bazar district, prone to natural disasters and facing the effects of climate change, since 2017. Rohingya and refugee communities there are particularly vulnerable to landslides and floods during cyclones.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Fatima said Rohingyas are living in overcrowded camps with limited opportunities and complex challenges. The suffering of host communities is also exacerbated as they face a range of problems, including limited resources, limited market access, limited employment opportunities, inadequate infrastructure and frequent environmental disasters.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">He said, with the help of the Netherlands, IOM will provide life-saving assistance to Rohingya and refugee groups that will contribute to social harmony and security.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Woodstra hoped her government&#8217;s support would help improve the lives of both the Rohingya and Bangladeshi communities and reduce disaster risk.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The project will be implemented in coordination with Bangladesh government and other partners.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Cox&#8217;s Bazar Correspondent: The Netherlands has decided to provide $7.5 million through the International Organization for Migration (IOM) for the welfare of forcibly displaced Rohingya refugees and their host communities in Cox&#8217;s Bazar district.
