Sunday (August 18) Deputy Secretary. This information was informed through a notification signed by Mahbub Alam.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Earlier, 495 upazila parishad chairmen and 53 zilla parishad chairmen were removed. Upazila Parishad Chairmen will be replaced by Upazila Nirbahi Officers (UNOs) and District Administrators (DCs) in place of District Parishad Chairmen.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A government bulletin on August 16 said that the government can remove mayors and councilors of any city corporation and municipality in the public interest if it is deemed necessary in special circumstances. Similarly, the chairman and members of the zilla parishad and the chairman, vice chairman, and female vice chairmen of the upazila parishad can be removed. At the same time, the government can appoint administrators in these.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">By making such provisions as &#8216;Local Government (City Corporations) (Amendment) Ordinance, 2024&#8217;, &#8216;Local Government (Municipalities) (Amendment) Ordinance, 2024&#8217;, &#8216;District Councils (Amendment) Ordinance, 2024&#8217; and &#8216;Upazilla Parishad (Amendment) Ordinance, 2024&#8217; has been approved by the Advisory Council of the Interim Government.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The next day, on August 17, the President issued an ordinance in this regard.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Crime Desk: The local government department has issued a notification removing the mayors of 323 municipalities elected during the Awami government.
